Nike Clinches $8 Million Win in Trademark Case Against Omi in a Hellcat

Nike has emerged victorious in a high-profile trademark infringement lawsuit against Bill Omar Carrasquillo, better known as Omi in a Hellcat. On Friday, Judge Victor Marrero in New York awarded Nike a default judgment, ordering Carrasquillo’s company, Reloaded Merch LLC, to pay $8 million in damages for promoting, copying, and selling sneakers that mimicked Nike’s iconic Air Jordan 1 and Dunk designs.

This legal confrontation kicked off in November 2022 when Nike accused Omi in a Hellcat of selling shoes that closely resembled their own designs. The case escalated when Carrasquillo’s legal team withdrew in February due to unpaid bills, leading to a default judgment in favor of Nike this March.

Carrasquillo is now prohibited from making, promoting, and selling any products that infringe on Nike’s Air Jordan 1 and Dunk trademarks, ensuring Nike’s designs remain exclusive to their brand.

The details of the judgment were first reported by Sneaker Legal on Instagram, highlighting a significant win for Nike in the ongoing battle to protect its intellectual property.
