I watch it.  I don't see how they're trying to scare young girls since their is season after season after season.  They have situations and stories where the girls will say "i wish I would have waited", It's not easy, and so forth but I don't think its enough.  I don't know if you have to be pregnant to qualify for the show...but that would mean you can't apply until you pregnant and so we have a bunch of young girls running around here getting pregnant just so they can apply for the show, and still may not make it.  I've also seen girls from every background, some that have it rough, to some that have it good and seemingly  come from  good families.

I think MTV is trying to glorify teen pregnancy and extort these girls. I have noticed a few things that make me think this. They always go to the middle of bum f*** America and find these girls (thanks goodness most of them are white). And they make sure that they are not from well off families, so they can control the situation. How do they pay these girls because the entire time they are on the show they are still broke and struggling? So maybe they put the money in a trust until they turn 21? I understand why they hold off on giving them the money cause if they gave it to them all at once they wouldn’t have the need to have drama and the craziness that makes ppl watch the show.

Agreed!  Everytime I watch the show, I think to myself "why the hell did I just waste my time watching that"!  It's 10x worst then any housewives shows out there!

At the time Teen Mom was created teen pregnancy had hit a record high. The show just like all other reality shows was created to expose the true life of a teen mother to separate from the ideal cuteness of having a baby that teens thought of. Since the show has aired teen pregnancy has dramatically dropped.

That's what i remember. i think its a mixture of both because they bring iit back every damn year. Smh just stop it already mtv. lol

I have watched the show and I believe that they are trying to scare girls from having babies because that show is one disapointment,heartbreak, and miserable situation after another. NOTHING in that show would EVER motivate a teenage me to be a teen mom.
