I hope every African American family tuned in tonight. I was upset @ some of the statistics, but it's the harsh reality, that many of "us" are scared to face. BLACK AMERICA SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO WAKE UP!

it was depressing, it was as if they showed and CONTINUE showing all our bad parts (just a tiny tad on the middle class) to keep us depressed...mind control...I'd like to see them do a special on WHITE IN AMERICA with all their problems...but they wont because they know it would bring their group of people down psychologically and keep them there....CNN revealed nothing new...just same ole stuff, black folk talk and know about...

The real and fresher story is the burgeoning Black Middle Class that is quite successful and growing. They missed the boat on that one.

I wish I could merge the two discussions on this....KC was lazy and didn't see if we started one already.

I hated it. It is a reality, but talking about all this on a news channel that non-educated blacks don't watch is counter productive. The whole series has been about the horrible stats of blacks and just a few bright moments. There is never any middle ground on how black people are potrayed and reported on the news or shown on TV. We are either very rich entertainers(athletes) or cracked out, on wel-fare, 1000 babies each, disease ridden losers. I just didn't like it. And I am completley shocked how black people are so afraid to talk about HIV! Unbelievable! But everyone wanna keep fu*king with no consequences, that is very odd and delusional.
In all honesty getting a few educated blacks on panel ,means nothing, it has to start at home and in the church and we see the church don't wanna go there. Ok, all I am trying to say is I am so tired of seeing programming like this, it helps nothing, but show white people that what they think of is true and make black people feel like shit and hopeless. Its being talked about NOW, but all will be forgotten in a week. Why would white america vote for a black man, when they see black men as HIV spreading-no job having-absent daddy being-financially irresponsible criminals? It was very humiliating and I hope CNN stops.

i agree with BD and getem. i mean all of us that watched aren't perfect and living the life but we're not the poorest of the poor and struggling who this should be reaching. that little boy brandon who dropped out of school (TWICE) and other kids like him aren't checking for a special on CNN. its sad and depressing and seemed to lack any particular focus to me. i watched some of it anyway though.

i honestly am still torn....... like why is it called "BLACK" in America for one i am not the color "BLACK" black is the color of the background of this page and I dont know anyone who is of this pigmentation second I dont know of one person who is "WHITE" none.... (btw we are the only country that I know of that does this bafooelry) then im thinking to myself as they show the Rand family duh like everybody knows that the masta loved him some of that "blackberry molasses" so yes its cool to reconnect with your family who is caucasian but it is what it is...... excuse me if im wrong but if im not mistaken the majority of people of color (for lack of a better term) living in the "Americas" have some European ancestry. On the positive note I am glad that they had a segment for HIV/AIDS b/c its not talked about as much as it should be and we are losing way to many brothers and sisters to this disease.

I agree Get em and Baby doll. I can't do the same song and dance anymore. We are not in the state we use to be in, but you won't see that... God forbid you give another black "hope".
