I can't help but to LOL @ those funny comments that I still hear! It's really an oxymoron. I think that people have gotten over the skin complex issue. Its just now what it boils down to is, at the end of the day, if the dude is thinking about if he's going to slip up, what will his kid(s) look like! I'm not saying that's the case for all but quite a few!! They might not say it openly but they are thinking it!
Just my personal opinion!!

there is a big difference between preference and learned inferiority

my friends still lust for light skin chicks over all others and i never hesitate to call they ass out. a buddy of mine once said take a pretty light skin girl imagine her 10 shades darker and if you find yourself losing attraction to her she wasn't that pretty to begin with. with that said, cats need to check themselves on the slave mentality willie lynch b*******

It's all @ the persons discretion.I do however agree that as far as videos lighter skin is in more demand.But from a females point of view lightskin guys are out I LOVVVE a chocolate dark skin guy!!!

Genetics are funny, almost like a box of chocolate "you never know what you're gonna get". I am dark, my ex is caramel and our daughter is "very light"! My parent's are light, my brother is caramel, I am dark and my sister is "very light". My ex's parents are "very very light" and he is caramel and his siblings are the rainbow tribe. So if that's what a dude is worrying about he better start looking at facial features cause that's about the only thing that is almost always predictable....

I'd say it depends on the guy. But I do hear the "damn you a fine-ass black girl" or "you so pretty for a dark-skinned chick" comment all the time! I'm personally offended and I always voice my opinion. It's as if being brown-skinned can't be beautiful. I think it goes deeper than people think as well. It's a prejudice carried over from slavery times where blacks felt inept and beneath whites because of their skin color. Whites made themselves the pure and made blacks feel dirty. So blacks in those days prided themselves on being fair-skinned and even those who were really pale would try to pass themselves as whites in order to be accepted. But we should accept who we are and our beautiful brown skin. If you're attractive, you're attractive and you'll still get attention.

I hate when guys do this as well, even though I am not black. Some of my black guy friends always say that want them a bad red bone and I was confused what a red bone was and they explained. I'm like, why does it matter, what if she is beautiful and brown skin, they said "I'll consider, but I just love a red bone." Still didn't give a real reason.

Dark girls sometimes have it hard. If it's not competing against the white girl, it's competing against the light skinned chick. I think african american women are beautiful of all shades. You can't tell me a guy would prefer a light skinned chick of Naomi Cambell. SHE IS BEAUTIFUL and it's because of her complexion wich is nowhere near Light.

Guys are shallow, be happy somebody wants your ass!

I thought the whole light skin phase was over, but I'm seeing that a "dimepiece" has moved to you having to be mixed. Black is always in the mixture, but it has to be mixed with brazilian, dominican, puerto rican, or white, hence seeing all the video vixens claiming to be mixed. I think the darker you are the pretty you have to be to be considered a dime. I see people saying some of the "mix" girls as being dimes and they are average at best. So no the playing field has not been leveled. It never will be.

I agree Twin. A lot of lightskinned people get a "lightskin" pass. I read about this from another message board. What that means is, if you really step back and LOOK at a light skin person that someone is saying is so fine, they really may not be. Because they're lightskinned, it makes them look a little better. They may have bad skin, a big nose, cock-eyed but because they are light skinned, they may really be a 6, but be put up to a 7 or 8 because they are light skinned.

Preach. And unfortunately they are the "ugly" girls that don't know they're "ugly". I have a girlfriend like that. She's not ugly but she isn't as "hot" as she likes to think she is. Her body is "sick" (not better than mine, but she just let's it all hang out!) When we ride our motorcycles and we have our helmets on jeans fitted and you can see the small of our backs dudes will usually signal us over, she ALWAYS pulls over and since I don't want to leave her, I pull over too. She'll pull her helmet off and dude will kick it, I stay on my bike and one of his boys come to check me out. I take off my helmet and the dude she was talking finds some lame reason to come over and ask me something about my bike and all smiling in my face and then she's ready to go cause I got the attention....
