CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) -- The mother and brother of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson were found slain in their home on Chicago's South Side, Hudson's publicist told CNN on Friday.

"We can confirm that there is an ongoing investigation concerning the deaths of Jennifer Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, and her brother, Jason Hudson," publicist Lisa Kasteler said.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert on Friday for a 7-year-old boy who was missing from the scene of the double homicide.

The boy, Julian King, may be traveling with someone who may have knowledge of the crime in a 1994 white Chevrolet Suburban with Illinois license plates, authorities said at an evening news conference.

Julian is 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. He was wearing a brown polo shirt with stripes and khaki pants when last seen, authorities said in the Amber Alert.

"She is on her way back into Chicago from Tampa, Florida," Willie Davis, pastor of Progressive Baptist Church, told CNN affiliate CLTV.

Davis said he was notified that he might be called out to assist Hudson and her family members.


Deputy Police Chief Joseph Patterson said the bodies were found about 3 p.m. Friday, when a relative arrived home and found the body of a female shot to death on the living room floor.

The relative backed out of the house and called police, who found the body of a male shot to death in a bedroom, Patterson said. Video Watch the police news conference »

The white Suburban and the 7-year-old were missing from the scene, he said.

Police did not identify the victims and did not mention Hudson. Patterson said King was the grandson of the female victim.

Neighbors reported hearing gunshots earlier Friday, he said. Authorities found no signs of forced entry to the home and are not sure whether other items are missing. Video Watch the scene outside the house »

Hudson won a Best Actress Oscar in 2006 for her portrayal of Effie in the film version of the Broadway musical "Dreamgirls." She competed on the third season of "American Idol" in 2004, making it to the top seven contestants before being eliminated from the contes

I hope they find him safe and sound....... and they should turn the camera off and give ole boy a good whooping....

I don't think it was the hood. If you ever have been to Chi, the you know what most ppl consider the burbs looks hood to others. I remember this lady told us the part i was staying in was the good part and the burbs and I was looking like WTH?!

I hope they find that little boy safe and unharmed(as much as possible)! This was just SICK on that man's part! If just wanted the little boy then why KILL the ppl, according to yahoo, it's believed that the mother or brother tried to fight the guy! I HOPE his DUMB ASS left his DNA under some finger nails or a piece of hair on somebody's clothes, so they can OFFICIALLY charge him!
