SORRY...
i will be relocating to the atlanta area (vinings to be exact) the second week of may...
can someone tell me the following please:
best places to shop.
places to eat.
clubs (even though im a homebody).
best area to live in.
best lounges.
best museums and exhibits.
Wow! I have no idea anymore. To tell you the truth ATL has gotten crazy. Not to bring in the rain but just the real...it's like a different place down there since Katrina (with overcrowding). There are lots of gangs creeping in too. I heard it's not too bad on the outskirts though. If you havn't found a definate place yet, I suggest finding a spot far AWAY from the City. You can always drive in to the clubs etc. Marta (transit system) is sooooo easy to follow... nothing like NY. Lots cleaner too!
As far as places to shop there is Phipps Plaza which is near Lenox Mall. Lenox mall has gotten extemely ghetto to me but you still have Louis Vuitton there. Atlanta has a million clubs. The best time to go out there is during the week. They also have Atlantic Station that is a nice place to hang out and eat and walk around in nice weather. Atlanta is full of things to do. You might also want to try 300 which is a bowling alley on Sundays.

Okay ATL has not at all gotten bad since Katrina. Yeah we have our implants from that unfortunate situation but we our nowhere as over crowded as say Houston. As far as gangs and stuff. Thats young kid mess and it will never be as serious as LA. I live in the heart of the city and my biggest threat is the tranny prostitute on the corner.
The thing that is killing ATL is the real estate. Not only has it closed our hottest night spots, Visions and the entire Buckhead strip...but every place in the city now is an over priced condo. But it is a buyers market so you may still find a good deal it's just if you wanna sell that property anytime in the near future you will end up losing money. My home girl moved to LA in 2005 and just sold her condo in the summer of 2007. Thats 2 years it sat on the market. She rented it our to cover her mortgage but who wants that headache when you don't even live in that city yet alone that coast.
All of our clubs are moving to outskirts because they dont have to deal with the strict laws of Fulton County. When Shirley Franklin became Mayor alot of things in Atlanta changed. And some for good. Clubs close at 3 instead of 4 she did kill the legendary 112 which stayed open 24 hours. But we still have Compound (which is going thru remodel currently but still open for events), Velvet Room, Lotus, and a few others. Visions is set to reopen across the street from its former location sometime this year. Our lounge scene is definitely picking up there are tons of restaurant bars, hotel bars and just plain bars that have their nights. Luckie Lounge which is all over this site is hot on more than just wed. night. You never know who you are going to run into.
Shopping wise....Lenox is not it anymore. Only out of towners cruise Lenox now. Lenox is a gay mans heaven. Atlanta is still the city of the gay man and Lenox is their home. Only a small few have gravitated toward Phipps Plaza but there is always good shopping there. Lil Five Points, The Highlands and other spots with little boutiques are great. You will see people from all walks of life.
I do NOT recommend Marta for anything other than going to the airport. And even then that mess is not that convenient, When I got home from Vegas this weekend I sat on a non moving train for 30 min 2 stops away from my car. PISSED OFF. yeah it's clean but so what if you are not going any where.
Men love the thrill of the chase (make the guy chase a little longer next time). Take it as a learning experience. He may be sincere or he may be telling you what you want to hear (false hope). Hopefully you'll come out on top the next time around...
freeway would be jay-z's issue not diddy's?? well I lovved loon on toni braxton's song that says 'i don't ever want to see you again'
