One of the big problems with PETA and their pet placment programs is that they make adopting an animal expensive and difficult. I was trying to adopt a cat through one of their approved cat rescue programs in North Texas, and I was supposed to complete an 8 page application. They wanted too much of my personal information. I can understand you want to know if I can afford to take care of the pet, some city shelters do want proof of income and pet deposit. These idiots wanted four references from my job, five personal references, a tour of my home, and to see if my car was safe to transport an animal in. I immediately threw that app in the trash. I was to pay an application fee, a donation to the program, and I had to pay to turn thr animal back in if I'd changed my mind. I'd have to pay a $300 rehoming fee if I did.
