For Women Who Want The Ballerific Life!
Hello Ladies...for a while now, ive been thinking of doing the BKT to make my natural hair softer, but i was always really scared. My hair type is VERY course....much more than a 4a/b....maybe like a 4d.
Last week i decided to bite the bullet and just do it! Wasnt too bad or at all scary. The stylist used 24 hour rejuvenol bkt.
The result....my hair is actually shiny (which it has NEVER been) and softer than ever.
Just wondering if anyone else has done this and what were the results.

Permalink Reply by Ms. BoiBye on February 28, 2012 at 11:52am i have a friend who swears by them, but she said she has to get them I think every 3 or 4 months to keep the desired effect. Question are you training your hair to be straight? She said that is the only issue she doesn't have the same exact texture before when she wants a twist out. But other than that she really likes it. My only thing is I don't want to get into another process. Did you hair dresser say you have to keep getting them now? Desiree I was looking into it too
Permalink Reply by Zaria 22 on February 29, 2012 at 8:55pm I love the BKT! I have 4a hair and it makes it like a 3b-3c. It brings out the curls, but when I straighten it that's when I see the beauty. Its shiny and flowy and makes it easy to straighten. I do it myself @ home though. I feel like some of the salon versions are too strong and have to much formaldehyde. Contrary to what people believe you get the same results with a fomaldehyde free treatment. It doesn't have to be strong, it just won't last as long. It'll wear off in a month.
My only warning is straightening can be addictive with this treatment, so try to wear your hair curly most of the time. Heat damage is real! If you do it at home, do your research.
Other than that, I love it! :)
What brand do you use for your treatments?

Permalink Reply by Skytz0100 on March 1, 2012 at 12:49pm Well, I have been getting scores of emails about this lately, and since you have tried it, I guess I will go ahead and try it to. My natural hair is course too, but thin at the roots, I have a mixture of mom/dad's hair which makes it hard to hold a natural style for more than a day. It has to be spritzed from root to tip as hard as a rock or it won't make it till the next day, matter of fact, till I get home from the shop. I hate dealing with my natural hair but i still want it to be soft and shiny. When it's nappy, it's really nappy! Like break the comb nappy!
Permalink Reply by Babydoll on March 1, 2012 at 1:08pm I am newly natural too (6months) 3C texture & the more it grows the more the texture is changing to differenct ones it range now 3b-4a o.0.... Honestly, I hate it, b/c I think natural hair takes way more money & maintence to take care of it. But I won't perm it because I do prefer to be chemical free (medical reasons). I just looked some videos up on Youtube & I don't see the difference btwn this and a relaxer...
Permalink Reply by Ms. BoiBye on March 1, 2012 at 3:17pm I see a lot of BKT treatment offers and deals on sites like groupon and deal find for my area.
Do you ladies know if you can get it once with out damage or do you have to continue to get it like perm or texturizer?
