Alarming Rise in STD's among bisexual and gay black men
Of the 19 million people that were diagnosed this year with a sexually transmitted disease, one population has been hit the hardest — young, gay and bisexual black men.
While syphilis rates fell 1.6% from 2009 to 2010, the rate among young black men rose 134% since 2006, according to the recently released data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
HIV infections are also spiking within this population.
St. Louis Health Director Pam Walker told CBS News KMOX that of the 400 new cases of gonorrhea and 126 new cases of chlamydia she’s been seeing, 90% are African-Americans between the ages of 15 and 24.
Walker believes online meetups are a serious culprit.
“You don’t have to spend a week in a bar to find somebody you’re comfortable with,” she said, “People are doing it online and they’re doing it faster.”
Across all populations, the rate of chlamydia has steadily increased to 1.3 million cases in 2010.
Researchers believe the rise is due to better screening and more patients being propertly diagnosed.
Blacks and Hispanics are more affected by STDs than whites. This is likely due to social and economic factors — such as low income and lack of access to health care.
Half of sexually transmitted diseases are being spread among the young, according to the CDC.
Young people represent 25% of sexually active people in the U.S. but account for nearly half of new STD cases.
Treating sexually transmitted diseases costs the U.S. $17 billion annually.

BlackFu, you might want to reread that. She didn't say anything about black women accepting lesbianism. She pretty much said, why do black men give a damn about what we (society) think about their sexuality when yall don't "check in" with us about anything else (like dating white, asian women, etc.).
But since you mentioned pride...I live in NYC and when I'm in town, I go to pride events because I love the gays and it's a good time. I accept BOTH the lesbian and gay lifestyle. The HUGE difference between me accepting a lesbian and a gay man is, I KNOW I'm not f****** a woman. There's no ifs ands buts or room for mistakes because I know she's a woman and I'm not into that.
If a dude is lying about being gay, how the f*** are we supposed to know??

Lol! and who the hell said we weren't accepting of it? The only thing I'm not accepting is... being fully aware that a d*** entering me, has also been inside of a man. I also live in NYC and have no problem supporting Pride but I'm not out there try to flirt with lesbians. Last time I checked, majority of hate crimes are straight men vs gay men.

At what point, though, do black women admit that they're partially culpable in this rise in new HIV infections. I'm not talking about women who contracted the disease while married, frankly, that's not a large swath of the new infections. It's women with boyfriends who feel comfortable having sex without condoms and without regular STD testing. I'm not saying DL men aren't a problem, but personal responsibility has to be taken into account.

You have all these so called "studies" about how downlow men are giving out disease left n right to women, yet the same study hasnt been done for women who are OPENLY doing the same thing.

Second, it's a known fact that HIV in particular is most prevalent in the gay community- NOT lesbian. Not making an excuse for why lesbians are better than gay's, it's just a fact.
Third, I don't know many (I don't know ANY, to be honest) bisexual or lesbian women who don't admit to being such. That means, if a dude was nervous about contracting some type of disease from f****** a lesbian, he has an option because he knows how she gets down.
Fourth, I think at this day in age, it's perfectly O-K to be gay. Swing a bat in any direction and you hit 5 openly gay dudes. The problem is if black men admit to that s***, and stop blaming society, they'll realize that they are ok.
Lastly, I'm a straight woman concerned about issues that straight women have to worry about. I'm not checking for studies about lesbian or bisexual women giving men diseases. YOU find that s*** (good luck with that one) and post it.
