has anybody ever worked as a bartender? i'm really considering it to help pay my tuition.... also is it worth it to pay for bartending school in order to receive a license? or should i just network/work my way up to becoming bartender? opinions?

i recommend looking on craigslist. some places will train u because they just want pretty girls. its the high volume restaurants and bars that will want you with experience. essentially, you have to work your way up.go to a bar and pay attention to what ppl drink the most, learn your liquors, and flavors.

I haven't been a bartender, but I think you should get your license and get a gig at an upscale establishment. That way, you can meet ballers and then you can let them know that this is your side hustle to pay for school. You never know who's Patron shot you'll be pouring... ;)

No you don't need it...learn basic drinks and some shooters, you'll be fine...

Most places just ask for experience, not bartending school...but the school does help with your speed and you learn a bit more about liquor...

I'm sure you are not in Los Angeles most of the bartenders in the most popular restaurant/bars here are latina. Not even big breasts. And pretty slow at making drinks at that..it's a trend here?

Yes I have...went to school. Before then I didn't know the difference between vodka and tequila. Most school has job placements...you are in new york so school will be cheap. Go to school...it's about two weeks.

Definitely think you should go to school. Bartending has a high degree of turnover so you can get in somewhere quick. They will test your drink making skills as part of your "interview" so going to school will help you in that respect. You can also bartend @ events/catered affairs for extra cash outside of whichever bar/nightclub you land at...those types of jobs will definitely be on Craigslist.

I went to school, and took the course, it was pretty easy, but for most bars you don't need to know much, cuz there are a lot of "and" drinks, rum & coke, vodka & cranberry etc. That and a lot of popular drinks like incredible hulk. But for more upscale establishments, you will need to know things like a mint julip and a Tom Collins, and how to muddle a drink and make a great Martini so the class will help for more specific drinks like that. Overall the class will give you confidence and remember tits equal tips, so where a low cut top and do your thing.

I'm a bartender and I never went to a school to become one. I started at a chain restr. so they trained me there. Now I work at bars, strip clubs, parties and events. To be honest, it's all about who you know and how fine you are. And what part of the industry you want to work in.

.....for now. Do yall really really think he's gonna stay retired? He has such an ego. Plus, I'm sure he still yearns for a championship and would like to be back on top where he once was. What happened? I remember when he was drafted. He was #1...

Men love the thrill of the chase (make the guy chase a little longer next time). Take it as a learning experience. He may be sincere or he may be telling you what you want to hear (false hope). Hopefully you'll come out on top the next time around...
