I think some women can depending on their personality, the realtionship they have with their bf, and their reasons for wanting to jump the gun......but it's not for me. I beleive that a man will heavily pursue anything he wants in life and that's the type of man I want. So I will never ask a man to marry me. If we are going on too long aimlessly I may inquire about the future of our relationship. I will also talk about my feelings on the thought of being married to him with him but I'm not popping the question on one knee with a ring lol. When he's ready and if it's with me he will ask untill then I will enjoy the relationship until it gets stale....

I don't think women are looked at differently for popping the question unless you know it was out of desparation and fear of losing a douche bag.

But I think this is one tradition that should not be tampered with. Gotta make him feel like a man and BE A MAN.
Careful, if you propose you gotta buy 2 rings. LOL

I was watching one of those shows on slice (couple was getting married with a planner) the groom said at the beginning, I told her I want nothing to do with the planning, I just want to show up. He's a lazy ass, now imagine if she had proposed he would say SHE wants to get married not me. lol

I don't have a problem with it but I would question how serious the MAN will take the marraige given he can always say "I never asked to marry you"......HELL NO!

Given the stigma that men already have regarding commitment. I would FEEL BETTER if he proposed to me. That way I'll be sure that it's what he wants to do. Cause lord only knows , I don't want nothing....that don't want me!

@RoyaleT @$picey my feelings exactly. I would look at the man differently. Like what's wrong with you that you couldn't ask her to marry you, you schmuck!

I knew a guy who not only wanted a woman to propse to him but he wanted her to give him a ring and he wanted to be walked down the aisle,......WTF?!??!?! I was so at a loss for words. First of all with all his standards I'm surprised he even wanted a woman and surprisingly she was still allowed to wear a wedding gown........ and to make matters worse his first name was Mallory :-/

I know of two that did, on Sadie hawkins day and both couples are still happily married, one 25 years and one 13 years. So it must work. I don't really know if a blanket statement would work. If the relationship is loose and not bound by man's job woman's job then it shouldn't be an issue. But if the guy is very traditional he may be upset or see the woman as desperate.

I guess it's possible.......however, it will change the dynamic of the relationship.....I just still believe somethings a man needs to do to remain a man....but I'm sure it works for some
