Celibacy and Abstincence have you ever practiced it and if so what did it do for your life
I went around 3months without alcohol/sex/cigars/etc...but that was because I was to busy to do any of the things. I've never allowed anything to have that much power over me to the point that I have to make a conscious effort to stop doing it because it clouds my judgement.
I can see if you're a sex addict, but in all honesty I dont see how abstaining or being celibate does anything for you.."and im not speaking in biblical terms here..i tend to take the bible out of discussions because its an easy safety net for people to use. Instead of addressing the issue"

Yes I have. I went a whole year w/o sex and cut out most of my male contact. Helped me focus on me and get to know myself.

I went 4 years--yes FOUR YEARS--without sex. Didn't do anything for me, to be honest. It just made me super nervous when it was time to have sex again. In the space of time I moved to another country and lost about 25 pounds, but I would have done that with or without the sex.

And that's what Im asking...what's the big deal about it? When you take the biblical aspect out of it noone really has any great answer. Yes I know it would be individualized however I dont see how abstaining would do anything but unfill a void

I was a serial monogamist and that break was much needed at the time for me to rediscover myself etc. I didn't date during that time at all - personal choice derived no fun in leading guys on during that year..lol No masturbation during that period either. Let me tell you after that I am now able to remove emotions from sex and made love making much better. I can't explain but it is just the way it is.

So you're able to f*** or make love now basically because you know how to control your emotions? Is it safe to say that you werent able to remove your emotions from all your relationships be it casual/serious/f*** buddies etc?

yes to the first part as in enjoy it more for what it is..no to the second part. Because I was always in a relationship, looking back I never gave enough time between relationships to truly care or love every single person I was with perhaps love/care from one just carried on to the next..if that makes sense.

makes sense..I personally never gave much power to sex. I felt it was an act that I absolutely loved doing however I didnt put much emotion into it. Now when I was in love it was the things surrounding the sex that made the sex heighten. So I could separate the two
