For Women Who Want The Ballerific Life!
Me I absolutely LOVED IT...I'm a spike lee fan plus a huggggge movie lover. Like i'll sit and watch a silent film or indy film in a heartbeat type of movie lover. Spike has this all wrong seriously. If he's looked at the last say 4 films from Tarantino, he'll realize that he's taking it back to the old phillipino B movies and blaxpoitation movies that they made in the 60's/70's which he said he wanted to do. It started with the double feature Machete/Grindhouse..which is a B movie from the 70s/80s live you've never seen lol. But Django was just straight up entertaining(long as hell but still). And I've seen Sam Jackson in some odd rolls but dammit if he doesnt get somebodies best supporting actor award for playing THE HELL out of an Uncle Tom I dont know who should win. I gave the movie an A.
oh in regards to the N* WORD. I don't refer to myself as a N, I dont allow others to call me the N word as well (just how i roll). However, I looked at the timing of the movie and the context in which it was used. And thought it was totally appropriate. Hell what did people expect white folks to call slaves..sir? maam? my good friend? nope..they were niggaz/boys/and 'that darky ova there'..and if we really gave a damn about it we all wouldnt be boppin our heads to 'don't believe me just watch..NIGGA NIGGA NIGGA' LOL

Permalink Reply by OLD $PICE PINE NEEDLE on December 30, 2012 at 4:49pm I saw it with my brother sister and my 67yr old auntie and she was yelling GO Jango in the theatre and she was shushing me up LOL
It was good, I like how he 'empowered' Jamie's character and how he fought for his woman maaaan It felt damn good. I like his side kick bounty hunter friend from inglorious bastards, he's a nice salt & pepper dude. lol
They have 2 of the original Django movies on youtube, really good. I'll go see it again.

I do think QT gets a kick out of saying the n-word and getting away with it. Too many of his movies have it for no reason. But if you ask me the whole thing about the n-word being used a certain amount of time was all marketing nothing more.
Permalink Reply by Kimmie lane on December 30, 2012 at 5:27pm It was ok. way to long but i liked how he went through all of that to save his wife. didnt like jamies hairy balls...lol but i thought samuel l jackson completely "sold out"
Permalink Reply by University of Smitty on December 30, 2012 at 6:03pm If I recall correctly, QT and the uproar over the N-word started with Pulp Fiction. Samual L Jackson admitted that he ad-libbed all those 'n***as' in Pulp Fiction and I believe he did.

Permalink Reply by Sissy on December 30, 2012 at 7:49pm I agree Blackfu, I loved it as well. As far as "Nigger", the feelings that I felt by its constant use was: (1) duh, this is a movie who's setting is taking place during slavery and (2) it adds a certain shock value and realness to how poorly black people were really treated back then.
Other than that, how racist can QT be? Django goes on a killing spree of white men AND women- even whips the brakes off this white dude. A black man is the hero in this movie. I respect him but Spike needs to sit down and get out of his feelings because he didn't direct it.
Permalink Reply by blackfujones on December 30, 2012 at 8:17pm if you've watched all of his movies 'yes i have watched all of em'..He tailors all of his movies towards the temper of the characters. So he's gonna use the dialect of the people inside that movie.

Permalink Reply by blackfujones on December 30, 2012 at 11:07pm I just dont see the big hooplah about the N word. I mean that's what they were. they werent men or women they were niggers, and that was there name. I didnt want him 2 sugarcoat anything at all. I figured it would be long bc inglorious bastards was to (and he has a sequel regarding the tuskegee airmen n the same capacity as these movies). The genre of movies are the B movies that he him and garcia wanted to make years ago.

I saw it last night and I LOVED S.J.'s part in the movie. He should definitely win an award for his part. I also loved the fact that D'Jango would go so far to get his woman and that black love was portrayed in a movie like this.
I absolutely hated it at first though but managed to stay until the end of the 2hrs and 45 min (seriously?). I was confused as to what genre the movie fell into b/c at moments it seemed like pure comedy and then others it was really serious. The violence and use of the N-word was a bit excessive and I love action flicks and movies based on history. All in all, the movie didn't turn out to be so bad, but I wouldn't pay to see it again.

Permalink Reply by BlkButtafly on December 31, 2012 at 7:59am I haven't seen it yet. I've got to REALLY be in a movie-watching mood to sit for almost 3 hours (unless it's Star Wars). But I hope that I see it soon! At first, I wasn't hearing good things about it but lately the favorable comments have been outweighing the bad ones so I can't wait!
