Sparked by Joe Digler's recent discussion on his chick wanting a baby by 35. Ladies and gents I think if we all follow the following it will avoid scenarios like this;

  • At the begining of a relationship be honest to each other about where you see the relationship going e.g if it is just FUBU or wifey/hubby material or kid/no kids
  • Listen to your significant other from the jump when they say they are not ready for kids or a relationship. Guess what they really are not and don't think that hopefully you can change their mind down the line.
  • Re-evaluate your relationship every 6 months. Do you keep going or cut your losses and move on? I personally take this to heart because me time is as valuable as yours.
  • Have a discussion about family, finances and future! If you are not in sync about these 3 topics it can only cause strain to your relationship

Ladies please do share things which should be taken into consideration before time is wasted on a relationship which is not going anywhere.

I agree with all of this. Especially listening from the jump. I have made the mistake of not listening to what a man really wanted and ended up without a great guy.

Also, watch how you present yourself in the beginning stages of a relationship. If you go in foot loose and fancy free, that is how you will always be treated. Rarely does a man go from kicking it with you to marrying you. I met a guy when I was not looking for a LTR, and years later, I want him so badly. It's probably for the best, but if I could go back in time, I wouldn't have sought a sexual relationship with a man that had so much more to offer.
Re-evaluating minies right now & its a no go on my end.
I cosign and agree with all of this. If you want to bullsh!# until you are fifty go ahead but ask the person you are crushing on if that is their goal as well. Don't come later on saying I am not ready cause b**** you knew you wasn't ready from the git go and you just wasted a good few months or years of my life on your dumb azz which I could have been using to find the person that's interested in all the things I am and has the same long term goals that fit with mines. After you hit 30 years old it is time to grow up, you only have a good 20-30 years depending on how well you take care of yourself before the old age diseases catch up with ya. And after that, who the hell gonna be checkin for an old lady/man. So get that s*** straight before you start bumping your gums at the last minute talking about your not ready. #bitchhaveaseat!
The problem is that everyone out there dating over the age of 21 is not an adult mentally. People sometimes tell you what you want to hear just to keep you around so they won't be lonely. There are a lot of selfish and immature people out here.
this is true. dishonesty has become the default for a lot of people

I co-sign...maturity truelly does not come with age. From personal experience am 24 and way too mature for even the 30+ olds I usually deal with. My friends always tell me I have an old soul..lol

And I just don't understand it. THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE ON THIS FREAKING PLANET! If you let someone go, you won't be lonely unless you want to be. Sheesh! Sorry for the caps but that is the way I feel about it. If I am not the one for you then say so and move on. Why string me or anyone else along until you find something "better"? Then you mess a person up and make them miss the person they were meant for. And let us not forget about God or Karma if you don't believe in Him. smh What goes around really does come right back around.

I really do believe people would be a lot less miserable in their relationships if they were just honest each other.

AB you are so right..that the tone you set from the beginning will shape the rest of the relationship.

LOL, it's hard for men to change they are quick to lapse. A week is a good sign.
I love it when they 'behave'. Crack that whip and keep cracking it.
