Permalink Reply by ATown SouthernGal on March 12, 2012 at 11:00am I do to an extent. I would prefer my man to be acceptable & willing to going to church with me (or I attend his church) if we get into a relationship. Church is a great support system.
He doesn't have to be all extra involved in the church.
Permalink Reply by miss cali on March 12, 2012 at 12:57pm me personally, i dont care. whats more important to me is that he has faith, and believes in a higher being.
Permalink Reply by Zaria 22 on March 12, 2012 at 1:25pm It really just depends on what his religion is. If he is a Christian or something like that where church going is encouraged, then I would definitely support him in that and try to encourage him to go regularly. However, I am not religious so I dont really find a need to go to church every week, as with most spiritual people I believe in the spirit of God within me, prayer, and meditation, and not an organized religion.
So basically, if that's what is important to him than yes. But in the end all that's important to me is that he is spiritual:)
Permalink Reply by PlaneJaneLane on March 12, 2012 at 8:48pm I definitely do. It's a deal breaker for me.
Permalink Reply by Sissy on March 12, 2012 at 9:09pm I don't care if he's an official member of a church, but I do care that he believes in God, prays and has faith. With all the hypocrisy and wild stuff that goes on behind closed doors in churches, I don't fault anyone for not being a member of one.
Permalink Reply by blackfujones on March 13, 2012 at 12:34am heres my deal...Im not pressed to attend church/mosque/etc because I have better things to do. I have my own beliefs and I'd rather be productive elsewhere than sitting inside someones hot ass building on sunday/friday etc. Now i've dated/married folks who are overly religious. Like everything revolves around the church, and it made it seem like folks couldnt make conscious decisions w/o the pastors help instead of gods help..Now imo when it comes to a lot of males church just isnt that damn important. From what I've seen it seems women need it more then men. And then society says blk men suck for not going, but like someone said when men come to church we listen and laugh the whole time bc we can smell b******* a mile away from another man.

Permalink Reply by blackfujones on March 13, 2012 at 12:36am if you dont mind me asking why? I once had this woman who loved my dirty drawz but she was conflicted w/ the fact that I wouldnt be an active member of any religious sect. I like the option of getting different perspectives when i feel like it

Permalink Reply by blackfujones on March 13, 2012 at 12:38am I think so many times folks get that misconstrued....like if i dont attend church im blasphemous..but hears the deal from some folks ive spoken to. They take the written word (wwhich was transcribed by a man) as just a great piece of literature. I have a hard time following another man. Now GOD is something different but a man puts his pants on one leg at a time like i do..hence the problem

Permalink Reply by Sissy on March 13, 2012 at 9:46am I hear ya! It drives me crazy when people treat their pastors, reverends, bishops, deacons, etc. like they're God, in the flesh!

Permalink Reply by Ms. Ashley Banks on March 13, 2012 at 10:41am Exactly how I feel. I've gotten into heated debates with people about God putting us on the same earth that Mohammed, Moses, and Jesus walked on so we could be together and work to preserve his glory. They weren't put here to divide us so we can exploit and discriminate against one another based on MAN's philosophy and titles. As long as my man believes in God, treats others fairly, and is a good person, we're good. I do enjoy some church services and LOVE bible study and discussion, but I do not attend Sunday service.
