So a coworker was recently diagnosed with Hepatitis B... She was in the hospital for a few days, on heavy meds, and basically told that she needed to take a medical leave of absence because she wouldn't be healthy for about 6 months...

She found another doctor that released her to come back on April 19th, she came to work last week to drop off papers looking like a lemon skittle... Anyway, she found another doctor & he released her early. She was at work yesterday... A little less skittle, but definitely yellow!!!!

Like HIV, Hep can be contracted through sex and it's more than likely how she got it. But HIV dies within minutes of air contact; Hep B can live for 7 days on toilet seats etc...

In addition to the staff, you also have to remember that our jobs require that we come in contacts with lots of people on a daily basis... I just think its crazy that in addition to her coworkers, other unsuspecting people are put at risk daily...

I mean, am I wrong to be bothered & afraid??????

The Health Dept & company are trying to coordinate mass testing...

Tracy said:

CAn you call the Dept of Health on the low and have them investigate?  I mean, seriously, I understand she needs her job but you need your health.

Oh nooooo, i would have a fit! Has the company taken any precautionary action to prevent exposure to the other employees?

Is she leaving blood and p***y juice all over everything?

Cause she's unsanitary... And unlike HIV, HBV can live outside of the body for 7 days...

The health dept wouldnt do anything unless she's running around sticking co-workers with a contaminated needle. I think yall are overreacting.   HBV is spread the same way as HIV so what is there to be afraid of??   If her doctor wanted her to stay home, it was probably for the benefit of HER health.......not everybody else's.

LMAOOO *tears*

More than likely it's not likely that you will catch anything if you haven't already caught it.  That said, I understand that you're grossed out.  I would be too.

Not to my knowledge...

Lmao!!! But she definitely doesn't wash her hands after using the restroom. I've known that forever, but this makes it that much worse...

I totally understand what you're saying, but I don't want to be that one one millionth (or whatever) of a chance...

She don't what and she got what? See...I don't know what I'd say or do but something would be said or done. I use to have this coworker who got pink eye every damn fall. The first year I worked there she came in the office and I lie not when I say the whites of her eyes were completely red. She said she was too bored to stay home and to just wipe down anything she touches with alcohol.

I very calmly told her that I wasn't wiping anything down. That if I got it then I would be home until my doctor cleared me to return to work, like you should have done. She left my office and steered clear of me for the next 2 weeks. I don't play that shyt.

Y'all look for me on the news. I got the one coworker who every time I put something in the microwave she wants to take it out and look at it and breathe on it. Now knowing how long Hepatitis germs hang around, if she takes my food out of the microwave she might get cut today.

You are wrong for being afraid because as long as she doesn't have any cuts or leaking body fluids your risk of getting it through contact is minimal. Just be sure to be aware of your body and make sure when using the restroom you use those protective sleeves that are in the stall and keep your hands, arms, or any parts that are exposed covered completely if you have any open sores or wounds. Your risk is minimal at best but I do understand your fear. Yes it is true it lives outside of the body for seven but that doesn't mean it's easy to contract because of that. It has to enter the body while still living and that's hard to do for people who don't have cuts or abrasions. LOL at you!

OMG i didn't want to be the one to say it but I am sure glad somebody did, I thought maybe it was just me that noticed that!

This sounds like my coworker.. B**** got the flu and came to work sneezing coughing, talking in everybody's damn face!! This was around the time people were dying from the flu in large numbers.. I should add this to my pet peeves list: don't come to work if you're sick with something easily transmitable to other people! Especially if your ass is unsanitary.. No offense but white people are notorious for that s***

Guh, she sat by me today doing this nervous twitch thing that she does with her nose... I thought I was gonna die!!!! My skin was crawling I was so glad when she left...

Father help me because I'd be fired now. My first thought was me calling her a nasty azz bytch before I could catch myself. I know me.

One of my lunch buddies sits next to a fish market of a woman. She kept saying that about her coworker but I thought it couldn't be that bad if she was sitting next to her every day for over 5 years.  One day I went back office for something. Her coworker wasn't there when I got there. That woman came back and sat down. I stopped talking in mid sentence and turned and walked out the door.  She came running out behind me talking about I told you. She'd have gotten a box of Massengil every day until I got fired. I know me.
