I feel like the token hip black lady in my office!
This weekend I went to Eastern Market (an outdoor flea market in DC) and I got sunburn on the back of my neck and nose. It hurts like hell. I get it often, so I brought some aloe and have it sitting on my desk. So one of my white coworkers walks by and asks why I have it. I told her because I got sunburn. This heifer says o damn I didn’t know black ppl could get sunburn. I said yes, I have skin just like yours. She turned pink and walked away. I often have to educate the ppl in my office of our hair textures about weaves, about films, and I am getting sick of it, Like why are they so insensitive sometimes. I know she is not racist, but she often shows how they serotypes other races, instead of just goggling it, LOL. I feel bad because now every time I walk by her desk she apologizes. But the s*** is getting old. And once I hip her to something she takes it and runs with it. But in the process f**** it all up. I told her the other day to say YOLO. Now she won’t stop ugh! Sorry just needed to vent!

I recently started back eating chicken, but when I wasn't ppl would be like you don't eat chicken, not even fried, LOL!

I know. We had a company outling and I dove off the diving board. They were all in shock when I swam back to the top. My coworker said when did you learn that I said girl scouts camp. She said OMG you were in Girl Scouts too.

We just burn less frequently because the extra melanin in our skin protects us. That's why white people burn so much, they have NONE. lol That's probably why she was confused. Our African roots saved our skin, literally.

It does them too. I do not understand why they believe everything they see about us on tv. I watch all kinds of stupid shows with Caucasians doing stupid azz things and never would it occur to me that they all do these things. i.e. J******.

I don't understand why they are always so concerned with us. I don't understand why we can't just co-exist in the same world without all the questions about what we eat, do, hair, and everything else. It really p***** me off because we are all human.

I tried to stay out of here... i don't need to get my pressure up. They make me sick as hell! this one lady here she makes a comment in the kitchen FULL of them..."Your hair why there is so much more of it than las week" i didn't care i was like I know I bought it and had it put in... sigh.
Then when I bring in leftovers sometimes and they get all shocked when I have some gourmet ish like it is exclusive to them.
Or when I suggest a place to go food, musuems. hotels, etc they get all shocked that my black ass has been to places they have... S*** p***** me OFF!

LOL I had a post about this before. But at least they ask you. They just Diana Ross (reach out and touch) me. OMG! I give my bosses notice before i go to the hair dresser because they will walk right past me three times before they realize that it is me. Then my coworker the one who I had an education seminar about weaves will chime in not she just got some hair sewn in over some cornrows.
