For Women Who Want The Ballerific Life!
Hi ladies I need help! I have been an nurse or 12 years! Now I have a position as a staffing coordinator. My problem is I have never worked in the office and I do NOT know how to dress business casual My usual work attire has been scrubs!.I own a few pair slacks and a few tops that are appropriate. My other clothes are club wear, too tight or shows too much cleavage! I have a couple pair of flats. My heels are all 5 to 6 inches!
Congrats on the new job and good luck! And this is the best piece of advice from TheLadyJosephine:
"Since you are the only AA, you'll notice our "business casual" and their "business casual" are very different. AA are seen as a little more "flashy" just because we don't rock cheap khakis and blue shirts. This could sprout secret resentment and jealously depending on who you are working with. What's that line from Rosewood, "he got a piano....I ain't gots no piano". I wore my fur on a bitter cold Michigan day...mistake. Evil side eyes and surprised looks." ---- Michelle, is this you? lol j/k
Thanks everyone for their advice! I found some great buys at Ann Taylor and Marshalls! Tomorrow is my first day in my new position. I will be the only black female in my dept , so i have to make sure everything is in order!
Keep it plain and simple business casual...slacks ,shirts, blouses, nice sweater, knee lenght shirts, nothing to dresses or flashy...no clevish shirts...stockings,tights....casual shoes thats comfortable, small heel...Less is better....
