Job Hunt in DC
I'm trying to go back and finish my degree but with the job I have now, I just don't see that happening. This current job, just isn't paying enough for me to cover my bills and go back to school.
I've decided to get another job with more pay so that I can afford school, bills, and living expenses. I love the working with fashion, but it's not paying my bills right now.
For you ladies who were on a job hunt recently or just in the know, where are some good sites to look for jobs in the DC area?
or What techniques did you use to land a better paying job?

you could make some ends meet by being an armed security guard. they alwayys need them and training isn't any more than 300-400 for 120hr certification.

Try the site indeed. It pulls from many jobs sites, that should get you started. And your in Washington usajobs.com should be your friend.

Have you applied at any of the universities in the area? Most universities have tuition plans for their employees. Check them out.

Although I am not from D.C. I wanted to wish you well in your job hunt. I am wanting to increase my emergency fund so I am making plans to increase my income as well. My friend has suggested I start an online business that way I can have some flexibility on my work schedule

dont know how u feel about working overseas, but u can make VERY decent money in a short amount of time and find a "friend" or 2, or 3, to help....check out overseas jobs on google or google some companies. mantech, itt, saic, honeywell, kbr, lsi - or lears seigler, s.thing like that.....kbr, lsi, and honeywell prolly ur best bets though. check out kuwait...they live just like u do in the states if u still want the life..just a suggestion

Goldie, I don't know what your field of interest is (outside of fashion) but I have a friend that works for the FAA and a friend that works for some type of national association (not sure which one). I'll see what I can find out from their network. Also, if you're into communication like I am, this is an AMAZING blog that is updated daily with job local leads in public relations, public affairs, communication officers, and some marketing and advertising (PR, not sales). Do you enjoy children or older people? I work as a part time nanny for a little girl with autism. I get paid from medcaid so I don't have to worry about my check! I also work part time for an older woman and get paid weekly. Its great because both jobs are very flexible and they supprot me going back to school in the fall and are willing to work around my schedule
@Chocolate are you on the Dave Ramsey plan??

I went and typed in key words in craigslist for jobs and took mental notes of what I can cannot do etc. Wrote down a list of jobs I applied to sent out my resume and had 3 interviews and got hired at two in one week. I am working as a retention specialist (call center) now. That was a week ago. I have a girl friend who is a STNA and I have gotten her 3 interviews too. Just passing the numbers and locations along to her.
