I AM HERE...
To help a young mother learn to love herself first
I AM HERE...
To help take the power away from date abuse....
I AM HERE...
To help take the power away from violence against women...
I AM HERE ...
To help take the power away from all esteem slayers!
I AM HERE...
To YELL Confidence!
YELL Confidence with us by supporting Saving Our Daughters' programs that help teens lead their lives with purpose and confidence.
YELL Confidence (Youth Empowered Learning & Leadership), one of Saving Our Daughters' core initiatives, sparks community engagement, public awareness, and the dedication to empower teens. It supports SOD's mission by working directly with focused groups of youth and young adults to engage them in creative learning and leadership experiences. The YELL Confidence groups are then charged with using the powerful messages they've learned and sharing their unique experiences to help millions of peers take power away from esteem slayers, grow a vigorous sense of self worth, and lead fiercely confident lives.
This "I AM HERE" campaign with K. Michelle specifically funds SOD's work with late teens and younger adults. Through critical learning tools and very eager adult allies (like songstress K.Michelle and entrepreneur Mimi Faust), young participants are equipped with heightened awareness of self worth issues and immediate ways to create positive impact in their own communities.
Reaching the goal helps SOD impact thousands of young adults by launching the YELL Confidence online resources and connecting them with our "I AM HERE" allies across
the country.
Saving Our Daughters is 501c3 tax exempt non-profit organization.

Permalink Reply by Sheli on August 10, 2012 at 4:37pm I honestly believe her. When he told his story, on TT-Torez show, it rubbed me some type of way, like he tried too hard to paint himself so innocent & savior like, and he spoke like he didn't do anything wrong ever during the relationship, and his "I made you...." comments, possessive men always say stuff like that. She admitted that she bucked and played a part in whatever unfolded that night, he placed everything except for him defending himself on her. Like in one breath he says they weren't in a relationship & they weren't serious, then he says he broke up with her after she flipped out.
I've witnessed abuse and the guy who beat my cousin was the nicest person to our face, but he beat her ass behind closed doors and he NEVER hit any of his other girlfriends. One of my ex broke his girlfriend's arm, but he never laid a hand on me, that's not to say he wouldn't have tried if I stayed tho. So I do believe different people bring out different demons in people.

Permalink Reply by Baller Alert on August 10, 2012 at 6:20pm I disagree with you Sheli... abusers abuse eventually.
I believe her story. I think this organization is a good look for her. I applaud her for speaking out. It's hard to speak out, imo, because most women see the cause of the abuse as lying within them, like it's their fault, "they must have done something wrong to make him act like this." I too believe they every abuser abuses eventually, but I too agree that some women bring out different things in them that my cause the abuse to be delayed. IMO "weak" women get the abuse first. They are no challenge. MOST if not ALL abusers are weak themselves, and if they have a strong woman, they are actually scared to try that ish with her. I think they first try to work on her self-esteem and confidence, then if they can begin to break that down, they start hitting her. Those weaker women make it easy for them to feel stronger than her and they can easily hit her, whereas the stronger woman will at least beat his ass while he is tryna beat hers. the weak woman will come back aster the ass whoopin, asking what she did wrong?
I really don't think K is crazy. I think she is hella hood and has had a hard life. People have really taken advantage of her, and she is resentful of it. She is not trusting and ALWAYS on the defensive and has her guard up. Nobody can blame her for that. Most folk tellin the truth are called crazy by folk that don't want the truth to come out. just MO tho.
