I'm going.. I usually stay around the Beverly Center.

Long Beach is a bit far out from where most of the action/parties are, unless you're driving and don't mind traffic.  Stay in B.Hills or century city/b. hills.  I haven't heard of any major parties as yet, but I tend to start getting messages closer to the time of the event.  As for tickets, you may have to try a specialized broker, because I'm not sure if they sell them through say ticketmaster or something.  During the day you can always hit up the Beverly Center for shopping.  Hollywood during the day is really not much to see, though I've heard people say they like the Star Tours.  Are you into outdoorsy stuff?  Cause you may want to hit up Santa Monica/Venice or even take a day trip to Catalina.  Melrose is also cool for shopping.

My friend was talking about staying by the airport.  How far is that?  She's paying for the hotel soooooo....I guess.  I think Im going to tell her lets go half so we can stay at the Courtyard

Far. Especially in LA traffic. Youre better off splurging on a closer room because you'd have to rent a car. I believe the BET Awards are at the Shrine Auditorium? That is downtown. Somebody said the Beverley Center. That is a good place to meet ballers but its a good half hour + away from downtown.
