Mother Allegedly Killed Her Children to be "Free"
Shaquan Duley, of South Carolina, was charged with killing her two sons today. In an apparent act of aggression and anger against her mother, the 29-year-old suffocated 2-year-old Devean and 18-month-old Ja'Van with her bare hands before plowing her car with their bodies into the Edisto River, reports CNN.
As more details began to unfold, it was revealed that Duley was a struggling mother. Unemployed and living with her own mother, she had no way to take care of her children. Prior to the horrific incident, Duley and her mother had an argument which escalated and eventually led to the death of the two children. Sheriff Larry Williams said Duley was "fed up" with her mother telling her she couldn't properly take care of her kids, and that she "wanted to be free."
From the onset, South Carolina police were onto Duley's story, detecting inconsistencies and loopholes. Though she was dry, she originally said that her car went off the road, landed in the river and that she went back to save the kids. In the absence of skid marks, police found no evidence of an accident.
Duley has been officially charged with two counts of murder and will be in court on Wednesday. She is also the mother of a 5-year-old daughter, now in the custody of her grandmother.

I don't get it. There are things you can do to prevent pregnancy. If you not strong enough to abstain, there is birth control. S***, its free if you go to planned parenthood. But if you "slipped up" and get preggers anyways, there's things you can do in that case too. Or if you've already had them, let someone adopt.

These kind of stories tear me up. I cant imagine what kind of a selfish monster would do such a thing!? If she were feeling that depressed and desperate she should have given custody to her mother and skipped out. Why would you go to such extremes knowing you are going to end up rotting in jail anyway.

I believe that you should have 2 go under a mental evaluation and a parenting class before the birth of your baby, it should be mandated by law. You cannot prevent people from getting preggers, and @honey i totally agree about the birth control and the many ways 2 prevent and terminate a pregnancy. By taking a class parents would maybe be able to cope with a situation easier from a better place in their minds. Poor babies they never had a chance, Why not adoption? Why are some people able to say I'll give my baby away because i bit off more than i can chew, and others resort to the more violent of the options. Sorry about the long post this story makes me so sad

My grandma's family is from Oragneburg, wow!! she is not a family member but there is nothing in Orangeburg esp for young people. I talking you don't drive more than 5 miles below the speed limit. they don't play. I was just there for my family reunion. It is a sad day that a mother resorts to this to be free from her children. that is why it takes a village instead of berating her the grandmother could have let her go clear her head for a few hours but that is no excuse. I really think, since we don't burn people at the stake no more, she needs to have a partial hysterectomy as part of her sentence, as should all mothers who harm there children. nobody told to to lay with that man but you did and now you need to be free, off with her head!
