Parents Be Aware Of Bullies On The Bus
and that bus driver better hope I never come across her in the street

The 40-minute video shows 10-year-old Cequan Haskins and the abuse he suffered in May of 2011 at the hands of two 15-year-old bullies on the bus with him. The incident in the video took place in Appomattox County, Virginia, according to Global Grind. In the disturbing video, the bullies call Haskins (who is a special needs student) names, make sexual and racial slurs, and hold a burning cigarette lighter up against his skin. Haskins screams and begs the bullies to stop, but it only eggs them on.
The bus appears to be nearly empty, leaving some to wonder why the bus driver didn’t intervene. Well, she did. “Ugh, anything to get him quiet! I’ve got to drive this bus,” she said. According to the Huffington Post, she was acquitted of any child abuse charges relating to the case.
So why is the video only being released now? The mother of the bullied boy, Roxanne Haskins, decided to release the video at a press conference on Friday, July 20, 2012, explaining: “I wanted parents to be aware, that when I speak out, I’m speaking out for all kids. But unfortunately, this did happen to my child, and I want parents to be aware of what’s going on in the school system,” she said.
“My son, he was a special needs child and he didn’t deserve this. He was entitled to a safe transportation just like any other child in the Appomattox County Public School System.”
Roxanne added that Cequan has been left with emotional scars after the bullying, has undergone hours of therapy, and suffers from post-traumatic stress. Both bullies were found guilty of assault and battery and disorderly conduct last year, according to NY Daily.
Roxanne Haskins is currently engaged in a civil case against the Appomattox County School Board. A trial date has not yet been set.

This couldn't be my child. I would have LITERALLY got on that bus dressed like Chiquita from Belly, pulled out a pocket knife and slit both boy's throats. That's the caribbean in me.

I'm telling you, my brother is 11 and he starts middle school this year, we've always driven him to school. But now he wants to ride the bus, smh I'm thinking no. I already took a baseball bat and threatened one kid last year, smh I don't know I'd probably kill somebody this time.
Wait the bus driver was acquitted!?!?!! The bus was empty and her old fat white ass didn't do s***!!!! FOH she should pay too for not stepping in!!!!!

Wait the two teens only got charged with disorderly conduct, assault, and battery.. And the bus driver didn't get charged at all
SMH I hope his mother goes for their jobs as well as sues the county, state, parents, the school board, the bus driver, and them bad ass kids
** I don't mean to sound racist but let that boy have been white he wouldn't be allowed to ride the bus, attend the school, s*** he would be on his way to jail as we speak so the punishment they received was some BS
** The bus driver they didn't even give a f*** and got to keep her job

im sorry but why such an uproar about bullies all of a sudden? Are we that f***** detached from reality to think that its gotten worse over the past years kids have interacted with other bad ass kids that there has to be some sort of national movement for peace n harmony amongst kids? FOH with alladat nonsense. Nothing has changed then and nothing is going to change now. Kids will be that way towards each other, and its nothing we can do to change that perception. Its only bc of social media that people are in an uproar about s*** thats been here for years...stop it

my daughter came to me complaining about a kid bullying her. I gave her some words of advice , and the one that rang true was "the people bullying you either want what you have or will need you down the road" Fast forward to the summer. My daughter has played the bass and clarinet since she was 7. Bully decides to play clarinet and guess who her mentor was...case closed.
Seriously we baby our children way to much, these are years where they are starting to mature, and gain critical thinking and common sense skills. We're all so gung ho to solve their problems for them that we dont allow them to fall on their a****. Im glad my daughter had someone pull her card. Saw her punk some lil boy at a bbq on the 4th bc she was better at football then him...just my 2sense

Picking as in calling names and stuff is one thing... But physical violence is another... And you know damned well if a lil mfer burned one of your babies, we'd be on BA setting up a defense fund for your butt!!!

not at all..the chic was HUGE compared to my daughter. She handled her lil ass with her brain. That lil boy who jumped up and popped off after my daughter tackled her got her rage. All the dads turned to me and smiled...i had the biggest grin on my face bc i knew at that very point that she'd be safe to handle herself. I can breathe just a tad bit easier bc shes at that point where she has that "i wish a nigga would" in her purse.
