She can sue the hell out of that company. I would not be giving zero phucks what they said about me.... they more than likely are saying it anyway. But these things can be tricky depending on how much he has to lose.

Permalink Reply by Noisy Girl on March 28, 2012 at 12:09pm I'm thinking about Washington, DC. 70k in DC will get you borderline hood living. I'm there trust me. Not ideal for a young exec on the rise. Why can't she just take the L w/ this dude, learn the lesson and find the dude who wants the full package and more than work drama cooch?
Permalink Reply by Siren on March 28, 2012 at 12:10pm This happened to a woman at this company i used to work for. She had an affair with a superior he tried to put the press on her. She got a six figure settlement still works there and has survived more layoffs etc. because they do not want the back lash of dealing with a lawsuit if they fire her.

Permalink Reply by Phoenix on March 28, 2012 at 12:12pm I'm in DC too. And you can have a $4,000 (house, apartment, condo whatever) and that's still only $48k. I'm raising a child here. 70K is definitely doable.

Permalink Reply by BabyBallerCheeks on March 28, 2012 at 12:23pm I can speak on this story from so many standpoints: as a child whose father had children outside the marriage, as a single mother making $70,000 and as the friend to a girl who had a baby by her boss.
As a child whose father had other children outside the marriage:
I'm twenty five and I STILL hate my father because of it. The lack of time spent with me, the disdain I felt when my father couldn't buy me things because he had to pay for his illegitimate children and the pain I felt when I saw my mother go through alone.
As a single mother making $70,000:
Well, that's me! I make $70K a year and let's just say it is NOT enough money (that's with a company car too; I don't pay a car note, insurance or car repairs and I drive a 2011 Acura ZDX). If you make $70,000, you are in the 28% tax bracket. That means, off the top, you are paying $19,600/year to Uncle Sam. Then you have to pay for insurance and stash some cash in your 401K ($3,600/year). After rent ($24,000/year), and bills (including school loans) ($13,000) leaves me with about $800 a month. Remember, we have to eat with that $800. Just think about that.
As a friend of a girl that had a baby by the boss:
They talk about this girl like a DOG. The guy was so shady he fired her after she gave birth. She now works somewhere else but makes way less and, his family refuses to acknowledge the child.
All in all, I wouldn't suggest it. She will not make money by having his baby; she will lose (putting child on her insurance, getting a larger place, paying for private school...etc.). Since he has other children, she will not be able to get as much in child support. I am constantly surprised by the women that don't know that. In other words, if his wife leaves him because of this, and sues him for child support, it effects YOUR FRIENDS money; especially if him and his wife have two children (your friend's child support could be reduced).
If she wants to have the baby because she thinks she is ready to be a mother, I say do it. However, it is selfish. I did it and now that my child is 4 she asks about her father damn near every day (and this is a man she has never met and that I have ever mentioned). However, if she is doing it for the money, it's an ass backwards plan. He needs to have no other children or maybe only one other child for it to work.
This man only pays $1.98 in child support because he has so many kids:
Permalink Reply by BabyBallerCheeks on March 28, 2012 at 12:31pm It's sounds like you have a saavy circle of friends so ask the lawyer in your circle: I HIGHLY doubt your friend will be able to sue. She would have to prove she lost something due to the slander AND the"slander" wouldn't be slander at all, since it sounds like she did sleep with the boss (truth can be used as a defense to slander). Gossiping IS NOT A CRIME. PEOPLE TALK ABOUT PEOPLE ALL THE TIME. HELL, WE DO IT ON THIS SITE ALL DAY LONG. Gossiping is only a crime IF you say it knowing it's not the truth AND you lose something because of it. In other words, if she applies for another job, that pays, let's say $70,000, and she doesn't get it because an exec at her current company says, "Well, she use to give the boss lap dances in his office during work hours" than she can sue for the price of her loss ($70,000). However, it's hard to prove. The girl I know that was knocked up by her boss and fired COULDN'T sue.
Permalink Reply by Eleven8 on March 28, 2012 at 12:38pm Fact of the matter is...if she didn't want it to go down like this, condoms were available. Baller or no Baller, like someone else said, theres always a 50/50 chance at single parenthood. In this case she's looking at the shitty 50. Really only thing she can do is determine exactly how much she wants to deal with. May it possibly get ugly? Very well can be, but is the baby important enough to withstand that? Maybe so.
Tell her to stay away from stairways because old rich men are crazy...

Permalink Reply by OLD $PICE PINE NEEDLE on March 28, 2012 at 12:43pm I hope you show your friend this post with the responses.
I had a friend who had a baby and the father didn't want anything to do with the child. He went on to marry someone else and the new wife vowed she will always be in the way and stop him from seeing his child.
In kindergarten, when they did cards for 'fathers' day he rushed home and asked who his father was at 4yrs old and she didn't have an answer for him. So anyone who visited the house (male or female) he would ask are you my dad? It was heart breaking to watch. I haven't seen them since the mid 90's so I don't know how he turned out.
Whatever decision she makes I hope she makes it for all the right reasons.
