For Women Who Want The Ballerific Life!
Permalink Reply by Moving In Silence on January 21, 2012 at 9:16pm I liked it. It was like telling my grandfathers story. Except he wasn't an airman. But he does have a German daughter from WWII.
Permalink Reply by Sheli on January 21, 2012 at 11:03pm I enjoyed it. The action scenes were good, the chemistry between the cast didn't seem forced, the cast was FINE. & the story was good. I fell in love with Easy (until I found out his problem) and I developed a love/hate/love relationship with Mr. Joe Little. I honestly didn't even notice or care that there weren't any black women in the story. This wasn't our (black women) story & the main characters personal stories were enough to follow so I didn't even notice. I did wonder how in the Hell those two were going to marry when they didn't understand anything the other said, but oh well. I got teary eyed over Jr. & Deacon's events. I kept saying out loud "so ya'll not gone go find Jr?" Lol Overall I give it thumbs up.

It was a good movie... I think we as black people need to get it together when it comes to our entertainment... We complain when they don't tell our stories, and then when they do we whine & complain about the littlest insignificant s***... So what Lightening fell in love with a white chick, was he still not an airman??? Did he not give his life for this country??? Actually it made sense that his character loved an Italian, he liked to push the envelope... With the story that was told what would be the purpose of having black women in it??? We weren't flying planes, we weren't negotiating getting the guys out there... Even in the hospital scene there weren't any doctors around... We have to do better y'all!!!! And if you don't see any black movies or tv shows to fit your liking, start writing & stop complaining...

I took the day off work to take my niece and nephew to see this movie. I loved it for my nephew because I like the fact they showed real-life black action hero's. For my niece, I was irritated because there is not 1. Not 1 black woman in the movie. Not even in the background. The only woman is the white Italian Lightning hooks up with. I mean WTF! There were black female nurses and other support staff with the airmen.
I know this movie wasn't a Malcolm X or Raisin in the Sun, but the acting and dialogue sometimes were so bad it took me out of the movie.
Support the movie for more high budget heroic action roles for black actors.
