They say you don't charish what you have til its gone well I'm feeling it. Usually Im a jeans and tee shirt kinda girl. But for the past 6 months I've been in scrubs 5,6,7 days a week. Im sick of it! Please help. I've been itching to go spring/summer shopping for months. It's finally here and I'm not happy. I've seen very few pieces that say I have to have that. I know its early still but Im ready. Some info about what Im looking for is listed below:
1) New cute scrubs (dont worry I'll find these on my own) Oh I got a hoodie made it's spray painted 80s style and it says massage therapist on the back. HAWT!
2) I'm a size 14/16 depending on the store. I found 2 cute pieces on Monif C.com. They're hella expensive but I only get 1 day or so a week to wear clothes so.....
<------ The Monif C St. Tropez swimsuit and the Marilyn short converable dress. 
I do plan several small weekend trips this summer and 1 or 2 potential business trips. I'm looking to work on a budget. But swimsuites are hard to come by with my body type and this dress can be worn like 20 different ways and fits sizes 8 to 24. I like simple pieces but for someone under 30 not too trendy. Any boutiques in DC I can check out? Don't want to shop at Macy's and look like everybody else.
Fashionista please advise.

Banana Republic is a favorite of mine hands down, I shop online for their jeans so that I can get them in tall. I like Gap jeans as well. There are some little boutiques that I like both here and in the chi but most of them are super small with no online ordering. You can find some cute stuff @ Nordstroms, without looking like everyone else. HM is cheap and changes their inventory alot so you can grab a few trendy pieces from there and mix them in with your expensive stuff. The most important things are shoes and bags, spend your money there because you can make an outfit look totally different than how another chick would. Also buy staple pieces, nice blazers, that you can dress up for work or make it sexy for the club with a cute top. Look for different accesories, chunky neclaces and cute fun earrings for when you aren't wearing your staple studs. You are on the right track, find some more nice dresses. I wear a 14 too and I think it's important to find clothes with a little structure, this means spending more money sometimes but it's worth it as you already know. It's not about what you wear it's how you wear it and you should feel beautiful in it. Always try everything on, and then bring them home and mix and match with things you have. I have a rule I always ask myself if what I am buying is a timeless piece. If so, then I can spend over $100 on it, if not then I must spend less. Those who only shop trends end up throwing their whole closet out every other season. You need nice things that will last.
