someone new

I met this gentleman thru mutual friends. We exchanged bbm pin #'s & phone numbers not to long ago. Never really chatted it up on a consistant basis until a few weeks ago. He's mad cool, good personality, funny, sweet & an all around good guy from what I've witnessed.
I understand how important it is to look someone up so this is the first time im actually doing it, but is it always good to do this ? what if you find something that would really turn you off but your sarting to like a person ? When does that whole "what you dont know wont hurt you" rule apply, or does it still apply in this day an age ?
Im kinda nervous that something is going to POP out and really piss me off and have me never wanting to speak to him again lol.

better you find out sooner than later. Why play fool? Protect youtrself first! If there is something there that will turn you off that bad then maybe you don't need to be dealing with him... Are there signs that you see that lead you to believe you will find something awful?

We all have a past, but some are worse than others. I say dig deeper ONLY if the relationship is 'mutually' ecxclusive and you two are ready to take it to the next level.
Since it's new, get to KNOW him first, Observe him in different situations (with friends, co-workers, etc.) and ask all the important questions first (like kids).
He's mad cool, good personality, funny, sweet & an all around good guy from what I've witnessed. I'm sure he's all these things, but you're dealing with his 'representative' now.
I say take it slow, enjoy it but keep your head on.

@Cougar definitly taking it slow & def getting to know him. Im asking all the questions in the world & observing personality changes i.e. attitudes.

I wouldn't wait to find out if I wanted to be exclusive with someone before I looked him up. Why sit in the dark while you develop feelings for him and reveal personal things like your address, family issues, etc. Some of these dudes out on the loose are crazy and lie. I mean, if you find something you don't like, look at how long ago it was. If it is something that really bothers you, ask him general questions that will lead up to it. At that point, he will either confess and explain it or he will lie. Either way, you will know what kind of man he is and if you really want to invest time, energy, and emotion on him.

Ask the mutual friends about him. You'd be surprised how small the world is, but sometimes the mutual friends dont know ALL about a person, but just ask anyway. Everybody's mad cool in the first few weeks....
