I saw this and thought about Boss' previous posts of the cities with the ugly dudes... A couple of the ugly cities are on the Best list...

If you’re single and looking for a great guy, how many times have you cursed the city you live in for its lack of eligible bachelors? Maybe you’ve even contemplated moving somewhere else where the pickins are a bit more favorable. Luckily, The Daily Beast has taken all the guess work out of where your next home should be. They searched cities around the country and found the best (and worst) spots to meet men. Measuring cities with populations of at least 500,000, they ruled out suburbs (too many married men) and focused “primarily on which places had the highest numbers of eligible men, percentage-wise.” They also “gave credit to cities with the highest percentage of single men with four-year college degrees,” as well as those with the most places to meet men per capita, including gyms, bars, restaurants, clubs, and theaters (what, no dog parks??). In total, 36 cities were included in the “very scientific” study. After the jump, check out the top ten best and the top ten worst.
The Best
1. Atlanta
Whether it’s the southern hospitality or the sub-tropical breezes, something about Atlanta is attracting all the right men.
2. Boston
With over 50 institutions of higher learning in the Boston area, the city has always been an ideal destination for the young and upwardly mobile.
3. Seattle
Microsoft, Boeing, and other tech companies that have sprung up around Seattle draw thousands of smart, educated guys from all over the world.
4. San Francisco
With those smarty-pants from Google and Facebook buzzing around on their scooters, intelligent guys with great careers are plentiful in San Francisco.
5. Minneapolis-St. Paul
The Land of 10,000 Lakes might safely be renamed the Land of 10,000 Dates.
6. Washington, DC
A city that’s all about networking unwinds at some of the best happy hours in the country, and unlike its hipper neighbor New York, people actually have time for a social life.
7. Austin
An exuberant nightlife, year-round festivals, and thousands of U.T. undergrads make the state capital a haven for art and tech lovers alike.
8. Miami
What it lacks in educated men (it ranked 24th in number of bachelors degrees) Miami makes up for in gyms and social life, coming in at #2 and #1, respectively.
9. San Diego
Like Miami’s beach bunnies, San Diegans tend to have great tans, great hair, great bodies, and because of the city’s high cost of living, lucrative jobs.
10. Denver
A growing arts district, top-notch microbreweries, and the nearby Rocky Mountains make the city scenic, fun, and appealing to outdoorsy singles.
OK, a summary: Boston’s got the yuppies; Seattle and SF have geeks; DC boys like to drink; Denver boys like to drink and hike; and the guys in Miami and San Diego have hot bods.
The Worst
27. San Jose
Compared to its more cosmopolitan sister city to the north, San Francisco, the geekier San Jose has a hard time hosting singles who want to mingle.
28. Indianapolis
The Indianapolis 500 might as well refer to the number of eligible men left in this city.
29. Memphis
You’re more likely to find a good BBQ joint here than a guy with washboard abs.
30. Las Vegas
All those wedding chapels must be for out-of-towners—for singles unfortunate enough to live in Sin City, good luck getting hitched.
31. Albuquerque
This sleepy southwestern town has Native American folklore and petroglyphs, but slim pickings for social life.
32. Oklahoma City
The Oklahoma Christian University lists Krispy Kreme as one of 76 places to take your date in Oklahoma City. Another suggestion: Sam’s Club, for the free samples.
33. Louisville
Situated in the heart of the Bible Belt, most of the men here are already taken.
34. San Antonio
So unless there’s a convention in town (and there usually is) the options in this city can be few and far between.
35. Jacksonville, FL
This is the city that never seems to end, sprawling for nearly 900 square miles. Despite all that space, Jacksonville has hardly any single guys.
36. El Paso, TX
El Paso came in dead last in three of our four categories (single guys, social life, and gyms) and nearly last in education.
Summary: All the guys in these cities seem to be fat, uneducated, and/or taken, I guess. But, what, I ask you, is so wrong with taking a date to Krispy Kreme? Obviously, the editors at The Daily Beast do not understand delicious cuisine.

LMAO!!! It's funny to read everyone's opinions about DL men...I guess I can only speak from my own experience...which is simply that they ARE out there...BUT not necessarily ALL men are DL...I mean when I lived in DC...it was SERIOUS!! I mean dudes have approached me with their kids...with their girls/wives...with their friends...and Im not sayin they came right out and said something...but they have their ways...so it is out there...but not EVERY kat is on the DL...I think Atlanta gets a bad rap simply because it perceived to be the GAY MECCA OF THE WORLD...and what dude would decide to live there if he wasnt from there...but I mean lets be realistic...Atlanta is just like any other state...for the most part...I dont know...it is what it is...I dont necessarily agree with it...but at the same time people are gon do what they do...you just gotta be careful out there...

I agree with you 100 percent. No one said every guy was on the DL but it damn sure ain't media hype. I think I'm more passionate about it because one of my bff's was a flaming queen and he use to point them out. I would half believe him and was totally in denial until I heard it for myself..and then when I went to the club with him and saw the same men that was in the regular clubs meeting girls. It opened my eyes. (this was DC Also and yes it was serious)
Furthermore..me, Siren and Maxwell Muse has a friend that use to dj in the downlow clubs. This club was busted in the Washington Post and the owner of the club denied that he knew what type of club it was. For years he use to warn us and we would just tease him calling him DJ Stickybutt. He use to tell us about how guys would be in there freaking each other and then when the club was over..they would be outside down the street trying to holla at a girl. He also would tell us about how he would be shouting out the NFL and NBA that was in the house. This was totally an underground club. When someone blew the whistle on this spot and the Washington Post outted them the spot closed down.
I type all that to say...ladies it's not media hype and please protect yourself as always.

Wow @Boss/MadamBA! I truely do believe. When I was in college one of my Queen friends would warn us about dudes that were in their dorm rooms and this was in the 90s. SO DL is alive and well. I have heard stories of the famous that mess with dudes too. Just be careful and protect yourselves at all times because you don't want a recreation to turn deadly. Your life is precious!
I just want to throw some other cities out there that didn't get mentioned: Charlotee, NC; Raliegh, NC; Virginia Beach, VA; Philadelphia, PA; Hartford, CT; and Phoenix, AZ.

Really, you gonna criticize me for calling another man handsome. If you can't deal with a man secure enough in his own sexuality to acknowledge someone of the same sex as being handsome that says alot about your maturity level. At this rate I won't even be able to wear pastel colored polos in the summer time for fear of what folks may think.
Secondly, gay niggas all seem to think non-gay men are really gay. much in the same way that lesbians think all heterosexual women can be turned out. All this anecdotal evidence about dudes on the dl is just that, anecdotal.
Black women have nothing to be worried about. IF you are concerfned about someone being on the DL, just simply look for tendencies. Don't expect me to feel sorry for you whn you fuckn round with the likes of a tyler perry.

Mr. Digler if you only knew. I have a DL friend and lord did it shock me to find out that he was playing on both teams. He has no tendencies. He doesn't give me gay at all. The only reason I found out is because he was messing with my gay bff. Then we all became friends. Whenever we are out, they point out who they have either hooked up with or who tried them. It's just really funny. This is real and no hype and it didn't just start. Shit I have an uncle on the DL and it was a big surprise to find that out!
i haven't been having any luck dating black men in dc, but with other races yes!

Seattle, Portland, and the whole Pacific NW is not a good place to meet men if you are a "black-man-only" dating sister. The brothers here like white girls - not all, but the majority. There's not a great population of blacks here so maybe that's the reason, or white girls and "others" are just their flavor. I live in Washington state (but am from Portland, OR). Note: My comment is in no way a put down toward IR couples, but it's the truth.
