Thought Provoking Conversation about Loving Being a Black Woman.

I had a thought provoking conversation with my mother on Saturday morning. She was reminding me to Love the experience of being a "Black Woman" the good the bad and the ugly... to lvoe the journey and every part of it. My mom has had a hard a way to go at times in her life and she has kept pushing. She was very candid about mistakes and misjudgements she has made, but she also rejoiced in her triumphs of overcoming many obstacles and picking herself up after many a fall. It got me to thinking about my experience and my life & we went back and forth about things big and small that we love about being a black woman. So what do you love about being a black woman?

The thing I love most is my skin tone. I can't say that I love having to prove myself but I do love the chances that I get to show others that not all stereotypes are true whether it be by enunciating my words or even just working in the field that I'm in.

My skin tone first, it's the first thing people complement me on. White ladies always touch my face, Lol.  I love the ending story of black women b/c no matter how it ends good or bad those watching or who heard about it learn something. The women in my family vary, but I learn to be like or not be like some of them. And they are some of the most forgiving creatures, we fight & complain, but let something happen to you, if you were ever a friend we're there to offer a shoulder or ear, we may still not like you afterwards, but we'll be there, lol.

Ain't that the truth!!! I told my mom that I realize we are lovers, nurturer's and healers. There is no love like black woman's love....as a matter of fact this country was built on it! We cared for and fed massa and his babies, raised them same babies and our own. It ain't always easy being a black woman but I would not want to be anything other than what I am!

I like this post Siren... How beautiful Black women are has been on my mind.... Just recently, I've realized that 2 of the guys I'd been eyeing seem to like white girls... I sort of got upset, but realized that I am a gem, and and whether they wanna admit it or not, s*** the first woman that loved them was black, and it's real competing with these becky's out here! lol. Next (don't laugh) I just saw Love Jones for the first time, and I love how Black women were portrayed in the movie... natural, real, and positive... I love us Black women!!! Like  mentioned above, we are nurturer's, healers, and some! :)

I loved that statement! So many forget that!

Strength and unique ability to keep it together when in crisis. My world can be crumbling down and unless you are blood you will never know. I learnt this from the strong black women in my family and to always be there for one another. I have some white women in my family and its very interesting to see them morph into stronger women after being part of our family.

Now in corporate america that's another story you want to be strong/ambitious but have to soften up in order not to be labeled

I love my strength as a Black Woman and I love my physical attributes. I love my big butt and full breats. Although some are out there getting butt shots and breast implaints we have been known for our womanly figures well before the Jennifer Lopez's of the world. I love my full lips and my skin tone. I love that we are imitated by many although few will admit it.

I love everything about being a black woman, the struggles the pain, the laughs, the cries, my skin tone and my (natural ass) curves, the critiscm, the stereotypes of being a black woman, but the ability to NOT live up to stereotypical expectations, I even love the hair under my black chin (It's not alot ;-) ). We are very opinionated, we stand up for what we believe in, and have come so far, we hold down single parent households while raising 10 children, having 2 jobs and they all made something of themselves, whether it be just graduating from high school to working for a fortune 500 company! I love my black sisters and everything about us is beautiful! Keep being Beautiful Women!!!

Above all else I love the silent strength that we possess sometimes unknowingly... No matter what we go through we still manage to smile...

Our skin is amazing... And when her sister gets her hair done, ain't nothing like it. Even if it's ghetto, lol...

Women of other races pay good money to get a complexion like mine, lips like mine and a butt like mine...

Can't NOBODY tell me nothing for 24hrs after I get a fresh hair do, LMBO!!

Oh yea...And i love our ability to make a dollar outta fifteen cents! Our ability to make something out of nothing and our ability to make nothing look like something!! lol WE are fierce! I love US.

lovely post!

love the part about loving the good, the bad and the ugly. we are about as fair a bunch as you'll find and forgiving. i love that we love hard, sometimes stupidly yes, but hard and most of all unabashedly loyal. this is a blanket statement i know but in my experience its what i love about being a black woman:) and oh yeah my breastesses...i got a little ass but by God, its got a hump and curve to it. not flat like a board...i'm looking at you pre-butt implant and hormone chicken induced eating beckies...
