For Women Who Want The Ballerific Life!
Do you think it is fair or unfair ?

Less than a year after Diddy’s son, Justin Combs, committed to play football at UCLA, state taxpayers are calling on the well-heeled freshman to turn over his $54,000 scholarship to students who need it more.
In an interview with CNN, education contributor Dr. Steve Perry defended Combs’ merit-based scholarship, saying he earned it fair and square. At the Upstate New York prep school where Combs recently graduated, he maintained a 3.75 GPA while playing cornerback for the football team.
“He’s done what he needs to do to be successful and in ‘Ameritocracy’ we have to accept that no matter who your father is, whether he be rich, poor or absent, that you can in fact be successful on your own merit,” Perry said.
There’s no denying Diddy can afford to send his son to college. The entertainment mogul was recently named the wealthiest artist in hip hop by Forbes Magazine, so far earning $45 million in 2012.
But as Perry pointed out, Combs’ scholarship is awarded to student athletes specifically and isn’t exactly a free ticket to a four-year picnic. Combs will be required to train 40 hours per week as well as attend classes full-time.
That’s not to say parents don’t have a reason to get worked up about the high cost of college these days. The average tuition rate is around $50,000 per year and the trillion-dollar student loan bubble’s all but crippled millions of graduates.
UCLA became a focal point in the Occupy Wall Street protests, with students rallying against planned 16 percent tuition fee hikes. In April, the school was forced to clawback $27 million in financial aid accidentally deposited into students’ accounts.
Combs has made no announcement regarding plans to give back the scholarship.

Denzel has class though! However, Justin earned it and it is not for anyone to demand he gives it back. Altough I think it would have been different if he were going to USC or another private university. The State is hard up for cash and looking for a scape goat. This isn't the first millionaire's child to recieve a free ride to a University.

Permalink Reply by University of Smitty on June 1, 2012 at 8:35am Even at state universities, merit scholarships dont come from state funds. They come from ticket sales, private donors, and things like that. So this BS isnt coming from the State. It's coming from people whose kids dont have a chance hell of receiving any kind of scholarship... #haters

Permalink Reply by KrystyyyMia on June 1, 2012 at 10:49am Co-sign!! The media has nothing better to create a stir about - so why not pick on this well deserving kid! Some scholarships are for those who have worked hard and deserve it, not necessarily based on need!

Permalink Reply by TawnBaby on June 1, 2012 at 12:56pm well...i think that the scholarship should go to a student who cant afford it and is just as equally talented and smart....
diddy could afford that tution...
but if justin wants to keep it and do this on his own thats cool too
Permalink Reply by anomaka on June 1, 2012 at 1:40pm Athletic scholarships are awarded to students strictly on the basis of their athletic and academic ability -- not their financial need. Justin Combs received athletic scholarship from 3 different colleges by the way. Yeah he's that outstanding. One of them is Iowa but he chose to go to UCLA.
These scholarships are entirely funded through UCLA Athletics ticket sales, corporate partnerships, media contracts and private donations from supporters. Nothing to do with your tuition or State aid being used by rich people' sons.
The boy studied hard, is a very good football player and was rewarded for it with these scholarships. But people want him to forfeit it? That's BS.
