In some states, like MD where I am, there is a law called fighting words. If a judge or jury decides that the person provoked you with their words to strike them then you can still get off. Still, being the person I am now, I was a scrapper in the past, I don't call names. The minute the other person starts calling me out my name it is time for me to go.

I dont call names either.  Yall probably wont believe this but in the heat of the moment, I dont even curse....lol  If I'm dealing with an ignorant muthaf**ka, I shut up and starting contemplating what defensive stategies  I'm going to use in case they try to TOUCH me.

yes, I got locked up a few years ago for cussin one of my boyfriends exes out. So my dumb ass got out and put on my all black and beat the breaks off dat ass. MD laws are a b****, but VA with that common wealth s*** aint no joke either!  I moved to DC, LOL.
