Yeah I am not concerned because A) My family owns businesses and properties so in a couple of years I have money and income just because I was born and I already have alot of my own assests worth in the millions  B) I am a make up artist so my work speaks for itself........ I am never going to allow some one else to dictate my happiness especially when it comes to my appearance.

I recently met this girl who has a lip piercing, wrist piercing, a bull ring piercing on her nose and two tattoos on her arm. Now this is woman is sexy as f***, she doesn't give a damn what anybody has to say about her appearance and she actually has a well paid job. I do agree with Siren that face, hands and neck should be left alone even if you are an entertainer.

Because you turn every thread into a black woman's fault.  Example....How did you take my statement to mean a lack of black female role models? Why couldnt it just mean that it's a fashion fad that both men and women embrace???

Women are getting a bunch of tattoos now because its a trend and they aren't concerned about how people view them. We live in a "I'm me and I don't care what people think of me and you shouldn't judge me before you get to know me" world. I know I want to be able to take my suit jacket off in a board meeting without being frowned upon or someone's entire image of who I am as a person to change because of a tattoo. We can say all day judgement is wrong but it exist and is never going away. Aside from frat branding, tattoos is looked at as a lower class hobby. I don't have a problem with tattoos but many people do look down on those with them.

 

*yes I do care how people judge me because i'm striving to be wealthy

I don't like tattoos now, however there was a time when I thought it was hot and I had one done. It's more like a fashion and I'm very skeptical about fashion because it changes a lot, today it's hot tomorrow it's not and I like to change myself all the time and try different images. Tattoos kinda limit you, you stuck with them forever, I mean yeah you show you don't care what society thinks, but what if your mind changes and you want to be something else..

it's not that I care but I was just showing you that if it has no (major/legitimate) effect on anyone other than myself it shouldn't be a big deal.........all of my tattoos have meanings and the back piece and sleeves I am getting are going to tell a story this is my way of expression, I am an artist so my whole aura and being is of self expression.

 

To some it may be a fad but I am proud of my tattoos and anxious for the ones I am getting.......

When it comes to women and tattoos I don't like it one bit and I agree with Tone. Why? Because tattoos or branding oneself is mostly a MASCULINE form of expression.

 

Why a woman would want to prove that she's "one of the boys", tough, or artistic in a masculine way is beyond me, but only in America would this happen being that people are so confused with their gender roles.

 

I will say this, the only girls who I feel that can get away with tattoos are the white women who subscribe to the rockabilly subculture.  It's different, the women still retain their feminine energy (actually they come off more feminine than a regular modern girl which is refreshing), and they take their tattoos very seriously being that it's not just a passing fad to them so I can respect that. 

 

Most of these girls can be found in California where I have only seen them, so in a way they are rare birds.

So now tattoos is a masculine thing? Having tattoos has something to do with gender roles now?. Do people even know where tattoos originate from. The women that I know who have had tattoos done had nothing to do with wanting to be one of the boys. I don't see anybody complaining about men who get their ears pierced,or calling it feminine.

Siren and Eternal Bachelor and hav interestin concepts regarding tats. My stance is keep'em beautiful, meaningful and kno when enough a enough, move on!!! To certain extent this particular art form is bein exploited an the long term effects of this fad is a concern....
