Hey guys...So I have a problem at work that I've never really been faced with so i kinda need help.

 

Basically I do A LOT of work--like the stuff nobody wants to do but I don't complain.  Also the other girls that work on my days they are always on facebook or whatever and i'm usually the one carrying the load.  So I mean i never complained until today.  My boss supervisor whatever was around and the asst director came and asked me to run an errand to the other side of the school.  Cool.  I was going HOWEVER i was making a face(in a joking way) that like "oh my gosh this again" (backstory, I had just came back from running 4 errans....4 meaning i leave my office and go to another building--usually far away--4 times....just go back and forth like these bitchez cant just give me the documents all at once and i knock em all out) ANYWAYS so thats why i was making the face.  Now the supervisor says to my "new" supervisor hey ____ shouldn't always have to run all the errands when there are three other chicks around.  So whatever.  But THEN fast forward to this afternoon she sends me an email basically telling me to quit or shes gonna cut my hours till she sees improvement since im not happy there

 

1 i never said i wasnt happy

2 one face doesnt mean i hate the job

3 Cut my hours? Mutha fucka i work bout 7-8 hours a week? So how much more u gonna cut

My problem is idk if i should quit, speak with her, tell her bout the other chicks? I don't wanna complain and TECHNICALLY im lookign for another job ebcause i DO hate this job because the people there are like retarded....anyways what should i do? Ive never quit a job or EVER had problems with people on a job...so this is awkward for me

7-8 hrs a week?? mane quit dat s*** asap. its not even worth the time or energy. just find you something else quickly if possible before you quit.
It's a student job but I can't like work at mcdonalds or some retail store. They won't wrk with my hours for school either way I'm tryna find a new Job quick.

I get the feeling that supervisor isnt as cool with you as they are with the other girls u work with which is why you are the target for all the work. She's trying to get rid of you and wants you gon. Keep your job until you get a new one..
advice for any job, even for the future, keep the log of everything you do, document it, time you started, time you finished, description of the job etc. Leave all emotions aside and come to your supervisor with the documented work, show her that you're doing that much work and compare with your job description. This is the only way you can prove your point. The same approach you can use when asking for a raise, you have to present everything you've done and how much your skills are above your job duties. Do not complain or speak out of emotions, you have to always use cold reason and sale pitch about yourslf.
 U may be a lil stress and readin too far into it... don't get me wrong ''the supervisor" is on some petty ish.. ur not her child. u can make face after the fourth errand~wth. I mean how does this job fits into wha ur doing.. like do u mind it etc...don't let nobody make u quit ur job..it's ur decision. So u may hav talk bout that email~seriously.
the only reason i said quit the job is simply because of the whole 7-8 hrs a week and her saying she would cut ur hrs because you seem unhappy. its obvious she is not as cool with u like she is with the other girls are the errand running would be split up. she would not throw you under the bus for simply making a face which im assuming u probably thought u guys were cool enough where she would know ur joking. (i joke with the operations mgr. and the vp at my job all the time not making faces but other things lol) if this is not an internship or something that pertains to what ur going to school for....whats the point.....if she has it out for u, no matter what you go and tell her, she is still going to want you gone!!
@dj ya I was just thinking that in the shower. She probably hates me and wants me gone so no matter what I say whether I'm right or wrong she's still gonna have a bad taste in my mouth

recent gaps in employment? Hell, you're in school!! You could just say you took time off in between work to focus on your studies. Bam, there you go! 7-8 hours per week! Hell, nah, i'd let her have it and walk da f*** out. I know I couldnt use them as a reference anymore but f*** it, you'll get something else, or you have other jobs before this one. File a formal complaint with HR. Speak to the University counselor's office. Clearly the Supervisor is not reasonable and favors that other workers.
you know what, this is an even better idea! I dont know how old you are, but in the workplace, you're going to experience this and much worse, so you should grow some balls now, and go ABOVE HER HEAD and complain. Point out the other chicks on FB instead of working, hell, take a camera phone pic or the girl with her face all in the computer screen iwith FB all on the screen, that way you have proof.It seem like alot for a lil school job, but it's preparing you now for b******* that happens in the workplace

Find a new job and quit. It may not end well or get better for you (telling you from experience). Before you begin looking for a new job, talk things over with the department that governs over student workers (they are the office that handles wrongful termination, workplace conflicts for students, etc.). Have something documented that way if things get worse, they have a record of the incident and knowledge of your situation. Hope everything works out for you.

If your supervisor really wrote that statement in an email, then she is really stupid.

 

Here's what I'd do:

  1. Print out the email
  2. Schedule a meeting with HR and your superivsor.  If you both share a supervisor above her head, then invite that person to the meeting as well.
  3. Start the meeting off with "I am being harrassed at work and I feel intimidated by my supervisor"
  4. Recant the story above and leave off the part about you making a face.  (i don't see any relevance to that part, and no one seems to notice it in the story)
  5. Present the email and let them all read it.

What will most likely happen is the supervisor will be strongly reprimanded.  If anything happens to you (reduced hours or if you are fired for a trivial reason), it's time to sue. 

 

Your workplace environment will most likely continue to suck 'cause ol' supervisor will try to make your job hell directly or indirectly through others.  Just track the incidents, take them to HR.  If HR does not managed the situation satisfactorily, you can then quit.  Take your issues to the local Equal Employment Opportunity Office and let them take it from there.
