Ok so this post was inspired by the "great food debate" in the other post. I have a bucket lists of restaurants across the nation that I want to visit and I have a list that are my fav's locally and places I travel. So let's talk food people.. Your favorite places and dishes! Include a city!

I love Caribbean food, my favorite is Jerkhut in Fla

Chin chin's on seventh and forty-ninth in NYC! Everything is good but I love this dish called Grand Marnier Shrimp....to die for! Its like a creamy crispy coating on shrimp. So good

ok lemme take a deep breath bc like someone else said IM A FOOD WHORE....ill start off with the places i've been and then my hometown chicago

Rio Mar, Puerto Rico.....Mufongo..they only give you tiger prawns w/ your mufongo...2 DIE FOR

Waikiki, Hawaii......Top of Waikiki Revolving Restaurant...please I beg of you give the kobe beef served with wasabi and roasted asaparagus...it makes ruth chriss look foolish

Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.....Veggie Garden..OMFG ...Im not a huge vegan foodie type of guy but I had this sandwich that consisted of sauteed portobella mushrooms that soak in organic broth with bean sprouts/lettuce/tomato with their traditional garlic mayo on a organic whole wheat bread...with this pea soup that was f***** FANTASTIC. Coupled with a fresh mango smoothie..i was to impressed

Mexico....Cancun...."No named...its a damn food cart" Everyone knows im a sucker for great authentic mexican food. everyday I went downstairs and sat and drank tequila in the a.m with this old woman, smoked cigars and talked as she made me black beans/ricemade with chicken broth and grilled chicken with fresh tortillas omg..how f***** great.

Oh yeah I hooked up with one of my frat bros in hawaii..This ninja took me to a spot for breakfast that was FANTASTIC.  Grilled chicken/eggs/rice(potatoes arent huge in hawaii) yummmm.

Ok now heres chicago..ill only share this with you all because most of you wont even come here anyways.."i dont tell folks where I eat at in chicago lol"

Soul Food....its a place in the south burbs called "flavors". The food is downright fan'f*****'tastic. You can get stuffed chicken n grits with red velvet pancakes for breakfast.  Or have some great fried fish filets wit greens/succatash/ and johnny cakes if u like

Cajun food.....when people tell me how they went to pappadeux's i laugh directly in their faces.  Its a place in blue island called "MAPLE TREE INN".  Its family ran and been around since the 60s.  Only foodies know about them.  Theyve secretly been named best cajun food in illinois for the past 20yrs.  They have two things that are dope.  They have this blue crab bisque thats f***** KILLER.....They have their own bakery inside the place too so they give you fresh bread right out the oven right off the get go.  Then you can grab beef if you like. They have a 20 oz ribeye thats covered with a bearnaise sauce thats f***** excellent.  Or try the seafood breadbowl.  They have a sourdough breadbowl filled with any type of fried seafood you want, thats covered in a smoked mesquite sauce.  Or you can get my absolute favorite.  They have two grilled catfish filets thats served ontop of risotto and etouffe...oh my freakin gawd!!

BBQ.....Fat Willys...holy s*** their spaghetti casserole is great.  If you order the catfish its about as big as your face.Their links are soo damn good that you wanna eat em for breakfast..and dont ever get a 1/2 chicken. bc you wont even eat a quarter of it..whew

Seafood...Lawrences is ok sometimes.  Im able to see them bring in their haul at times so I know when to shoot over there. Tinfish in the south burbs is very good as well

Habichi grill...screw benihanas/hamada/house of kobe...theres a spot in the south burbs called tokyo house.  All of their veggies are organic and THEY HAND MAKE ALL OF THEIR NOODLES. So they arent dry whatsoever.  Even their ginger sauce is homemade..whew.

All Turkey Products...you can try "just turkey" my people own a few of those. its pretty darn good. i love the turkey philly sammiches.

Sandwiches...it used to be AP deli...but damn theyre just wayy to expensive now.  I go to a spot on dixie hwy called Bergsteins..holy crap the pastrami and corn beef on rye is stupid good. Plus they make a helluva reuben sammich. and they make their own potato chips there

Hot Dogs...now you know here we dont eat ketchup on any hotdog..its a sin. I stop at maxwells on roosevelt and cop one after the club.

Pizza...deep dish: Gino's East....think crust: vito's and nicks (they were on diners drive inns and dives) s*** is soo damn good.

Burgers:top notch burgers is good/and i still think shoops makes a great burger...plus the only pop i drink when i see it is green river pop

Mexican food: zacatacos.....classic spot nuff said

....umm i think thats enough...i was rambling again my bad lol

oh damn i forgot the seafood spot thats better than lawrences..its called shrimp express. Its expensive as hell but 1 shrimp will fill you up. Theyre damn near bigger than tiger prawns i declare..oh and drinks.  I live down the street from the flossmoor brewery. They make a great rasberry beer that my gf LOVES. And they make this beer that comes in a snifter and is almost like a scotch. Its called santas sleigh ride.  For martinis you only go to ultimos...theyre cheap and make some of the best damn martinis ever.  I love creme based martinis so gimme a dream martini/ and a godiva martini anyday

oh crap i forgot...do not allow anyone to tell you UNCLE JOES in chicago is the best jerk place...in the last 10 yrs a spot called YA MON on 183rd n cicero right down from my house has taken them over.  totally f****** great...and if you want classic chicago hood food travel to 111th just east of the dan ryan and go to home of the hoagie.  go order you a sweet steak with peppers and cheese (be prepared to wait tho lol bc they are SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW).

@ Blackfu: Cancon has EXCELLENT food. It's a cheap way to hit the beach and get your grub on at a low price.

There is a place in Cancun called La Pescadora that has some of the best seafood I've ever tasted. I know that a few hurricanes hit the island, and from what I've heard they rebuilt the first time but I cannot find out if they are still in existence. :( Cancun had some of the best food I ever, ever, ever tasted. Especially Italian food. I'm always surprised when I'm not in a place where I expect to find a lot of Italian people but they know how to hook the food up just right.

Their two best dishes to me were their grill lobster (generous and so buttery) and the shrimp stuffed avocado. I've been trying to duplicate the shrimp stuffed avocado for years and cannot get it right.

I used to live in the Netherlands and I never understood why people liked Dutch, German and non-French sweets until a friend took me to Patisserie Holtkamp. I'd never had fresh marzipan or real fondant until I moved to Europe, and it was divine. Much better than what I'd get in a high end bakery here in the states, even better than my BFF's overpriced wedding cake she served in NYC with marzipan fruits, almond cream, and fondant flowers. The Holtkamp pastries were light but filling, it's hard to describe, but that place was amazing.

And there is an Italian restaurant in the financial district in NYC that I visited with my family when I was about 18 and cannot locate it when I go to visit. It was in a downstairs little place, real dark with lots of wood and a huge bar. The best antipasto platter I've ever tasted with the fresh mozzarella (the spongy kind), big juicy anchovies and the sweetest roasted peppers. Every time a friend thinks they know the place I'm referring to, we'll go to whatever they think is it and I'm always disappointed. My mom kept whispering that the guys at the bar were mobsters, and one of them overheard her and said if we were mobsters we'd have paid for your meal. And they had actually paid for our family's meal before they left! I'm sure they got a kick of the hicks from Texas, but we left a huge tip and my granny was kissing one of the chefs. That meal was to die for.

What are some good suggestions in ATL? Ocean Prime is on the list, but I want a good soul food local spot to try!

So many of those places come and go... just like the mobsters! There is a place in South Orange called "The Resevoir" I don't care what anyone says they are mob owned and I support them regularly. The largest portions and best tasting stuff. They have my favorite Zuppa Di Clams in the area (which I get white and medium) and their Chicken Murphy is legendary. The catch they only accept cash! No checks no credit cards. My stepdad took me one night and we were the last ones in there and the owner had this old school doctor bag and was putting stacks in that bag I hadn't seen since my days of D boys. Needless to say they are a laundromat...There aren't that many pizzas in a year for all that cash! LOL

HA! I was suggesting to my sweetie that we do an elopement package and do our honeymoon in NYC for a week or two. With me switching careers, he's encouraging me to stay at home if/when we get married so I can finish school, so it's really cut our wedding and honeymoon budget in half, then another half, followed by another half, then take one third of that. ;)

One of the things we talked about is going to a restaurant a day. It may make us fat, but we'd have place we could always return to on our anniversary.
