Ballerific Fashion - Ombré (Gradient) Nails
This has definitely been a summer full of nail trends. Some bold, some daring, some involving far more work than the average person may desire. One look I've found myself pretty fond of is the Ombré look.
Ombré nails, also known as gradient nails, are two toned paint designs usually fading from a dark color to a complimenting dark color. The color combinations are endless. Matte, gloss and even glitter polish can be used to obtain an awesome ombré look.
The trick to creating the ombre is to apply the color closest to your cuticle all over the nail. Then you apply the second color. Using a foundation sponge or wedge, pat the nail so that the line of demarcation fades away and gives it the gradient feel. Repeat with as many colors as you wish. Make sure you're going from lighter color to darker of course. Apply a clear top coat to seal it all in.

I love this look and I havent found one tutorial that gets it right >:(. Either they paint an entire nail one color and the next a lighter shade or they paint stripes and it try to blend it and it looks too visible.

@Ms Kissy Face - I saw a tutorial where you mix the colors first, blend it with a toothpick, then use the sponge to transfer the polish to the nails. I'm gonna try that and see which way works best.
