What a difference a few years away from the recording scene makes. We had just gotten used to Chrisette Michele, the artist, on her debut release I Am in which many of us fell in love with. Her voice is very distinct, her story is nothing like the rest. Def Jam's own Michele, releases her sophomore album entitled Epiphany, in stores May 5th, you often wonder what's been going on in her mind. Not to state the obvious it seems as Michele has been stung by Cupid himself. This album deals with the realities of being real. Despite her celebrity, Chrisette uses each track to chronicle her story of life, love, & female independence.

On first listen, you can sense major growth in both her vocals & her content. She clearly is the artist, allowing her feelings to be the true canvas to this masterpiece. With her opener & solid single Epiphany, she explains, she's leaving. No more questioning, she's done-fed up. What really happens when a woman's fed up?

When it comes to something new, we tend to get a little shy, on Notebook, she hasn't found the urge to speak on her true feelings for that special someone. In her notebook is where her feelings are displayed. The picture that these lyrics portray is all too familiar. Regardless of how old or young you might be we've experienced this.

She pushes the envelope on Blame It On Me, her vocals literally sends chills throughout. When you've done all you can in a relationship that just isn't working someone has to be the bigger person & accept full responsibility. This is perhaps one of my favorite cuts on the album. SANG IT Chrisette!!!

We appreciate the love & affection that comes with a relationship, however as women, we aren't trophy pieces, nor naive. She explains on Porcelain Doll, she's a grown woman & should be treated as such. Listen closely ladies, there's a lesson to be learned here. Female empowerment at its best.

This album from start to finish gives your ears something they've been missing for quite some time now. Chrisette Michele is an artist who creates timeless music. She will forever stay a household name, as long as she stays true to self & her fans. She definitely let her guard down & got personal with this release. Who said letting your guard down always had to be a bad thing? She let the world in on her Epiphany & I'm glad she did.
