SOMETIMES THE NAKED HUSTLE PAYS OFF - THE STORY OF BROOK LYNNE CARTER

I have always been a fan of the strip clubs. There were a few good ones in DC but they closed down. I heard about Magic City and went there one Monday and was amazed at the money on the ground. Came to Miami and went to the mega club down here and saw some of the craziest tricks ever...saw one girl set her p**** on fire...one girl dropped from thirty feet up in the air into a split..oh and lets not forget that it's goo-gobs of men there. Get them liquored up and you will go home with more money in your pocket than the strippers. LOL

Anywho...I don't remember how I came across Brook's page on twitter but she is one of many that I follow and we keke about a few things said on twitter. I asked her to send me her story.

Wanna hear it..here it go:
I was born and raised in Northern California, the bay area. I lived there for almost 25 years. I graduated high school in 1999, tried community college a couple times, which I disliked extremely and then dropped out of beauty school a couple years later. When I got restless about working in customer service for 10 years, I then drove to Atlanta for the first time, and stayed there. I have been here ever since, about 4 years. Which will make me 29 in February. Pisces.
When I moved to ATL I was on leave from my job, I came to take a break, and then I ran out of money. So I started dancing at Magic City about 6 mos or so after living off of Paid time off from my previous job and of course quitting. There was nothing like Magic City in Cali so I didn't know strip could be this alluring until I started patronizing Magic City every Monday to see what the hype was. After being impressed, I said f*** it, got a permit and started dancing. Worked day shift for months so that I could learn how to, what I call "shake dance". LOL, I had to learn how to dance with my ass, which literally took me months to do. Once I got to night shift I took to it like it was nothing. I made a lot of money in my first year, which is probably what f***** me up, because I keep waiting to have another year like that, hence me still in the club 3 years later. So..I started blogging on myspace a year after dancing, and I just wrote about personal frustrations with lying men, malicious b****** and fast money. My passion was and is, writing. People kept emailing me telling me to start my own blog, on a blog site. So, I did. Then absolutebrook.com was born. It's really, and always has been a personal blog. Not or never will be a celeb blog, I'm not that connected. I just wanted a place where I could not only vent, but give my opinion on everything and anything from the point of view of someone that is a stripper. I didn't want to hide what I did for a living, it was kinda of the point to my rants. Because, in my opinion, stripper's have a 20/20 view on a lot of things like, men, infidelity, sex, all by chance. The industry was so interesting to me, that I wanted to introduce it to anyone who would listen. Anyway, my blog got more popular because I would write about things that offended women who didn't strip. Like, how strippers are so in tune with their body, and sexuality, and how so many women who don't dance are so critical of us. Not all women of course, but enough. Some women even accused me of disliking any woman who didn't dance. Which is asinine, since I was a woman who didn't strip a couple years prior. I was talked about on lipstick alley a lot too. Then Necole Bitchie did a blog on me. Well, she did a blog on one of my posts. Something about strippers into housewives? I forget. It was a diss post, but it got me publicity. Which was later appreciated when I met her, at Magic City. I told her I was offended, and she explained to me how publicity worked, and we kissed and made up. :o] Right before that I got a twitter account, talked s*** all day, and gained followers. People thought everything I said was for shock value, but they didn't understand, strip and being a socialite is like a lifestyle in Atlanta and Miami, so what may be shocking to you, is everyday to us. Although i am a stripper, I am not a socialite. I have social anxiety. Fun fact. Let's see, then Sandra Rose did a post on me, basically siting that they shouldn't just let anyone tweet, and that I should practice more discretion on my twitter page. Another diss blog that got me publicity. I haven't had the chance to thank her yet. Some publishers found me a couple months ago after Necole Bitchie referred them to my blog. They liked my writing and such, and wanted to give me a publishing deal. Needless to say, I was excited and shocked. I always wanted to write a book, it was a dream. I never imagined it would happen. It's happening and I'm writing like crazy now to get the book out by February. I'm secretive about the concept and title until the manuscript is complete, in case I change my mind, like I have already 50 million times. Fast forward to the present, I am still dancing at the Magical City in Atlanta, and currently still writing the book I hope changes my life and gives me a chance to get the f*** out the club. I eventually would like to get into radio as well. Satellite of course, I have beef with censorship. Magic City can tell you all about that. LOL.

Interesting...

I wonder what the book is about?

So she is saying it is okay to strip and get book deals? I am confused with this girl. She is beautiful and needs to do something else with her life than slide down a pole for a dollar. Now she has a book deal and I am sure the rest of the strippers are going to be trying to write books as well. We do not need this type of non sense becoming a new trend. Strippers and Books. I guess Karrine started this mess. She needs to read the bible.

I find her extremely interesting and entertaining... The only thing I thought was weird is, she has a child and seems to have a very active social life outside of stripping. I dont know her business like that though, just wondered how she fits all that in...

I think it is funny how people throw the Bible, which was written by sinners and then modified for the third time and translated with two different text by a English King who prolly had a conflict of interest as most of the kings of that time did, up in the face of the very people Jesus helped and minister too according to the story. People need to read their history books, not the bible.

Cougar- you have pointed out one my issues with the bible and it's followers, there mere contradiction of what their faith stands for.

*This is my opinion an not meant to be an attack on you because of your faith.

Pretty and smart. She has said lots of interesting things on her blog. I like the fact that she is helping to debunk the drug-addict stripper stereotype.

She is right about Atlanta being a stripper mecca, in other cities it can be a source of shame where in ATL dancers are proud of what they do.

Ok, *yawn*. Not hating...just tired of Black women turning their lives into books like this. Who cares? Let's do something else.

ain't nothing wrong with using your body to its full advantage. If you got it, flaunt it. Life is all about survival, & for some, they survive by any means necessary.

You'd be surprised what type of lives these women lead outside of stripping. More power to her, trust i'll take a trip down magic city & support. Definitely will take a look at her book as well once it releases.

People need to stop hating. s***, we all got a lot of stripper tendencies, she's just bold & comfortable enough to share it with the world.

I don't knock anyone's hustle. I'm not perfect and I got skeletons. I have never been employed by a strip club but I do go for fun and I see the hustle. So, who am I to judge anyone? Who knows maybe this is her out. Maybe this is who showing other young women that its not glitz and glamor. IDK but I wish her luck...

I will say I'm sick of bible thumpers coming on her telling people to read the bible. Instead of ramming the bible down people's throats why don't you claim testimony? Why are you passing judgment? And if you have all the answers why don't you offer a second route to redemption? I can't stand stupidity.

DO what you must to get where you need to be in life. If that means sliding down that pole for a dollar then do it. As long as you move on & become what you REALLY want . Brooke is a gorgeous woman ( & also a pisces ;) ) who had to do what she must to get what she wanted: her book deal. She loves to write & now she will be getting paid for what SHE REALLY aspired to do. Kudos to her !

I am glad to see her facing forward and using where she is now to move forward and do bigger and better things. The people judging and hating on her need to have a seat!
