55 Million Dollar NFL Baller Dead Broke & Living With His Parents

Meet Chris McAlister, 1999 first round round draft to the Baltimore Ravens, former super bowl champ that signed a $55 Million contract in 2004. Fast forward to 2011 where McAlister claims he is now "broke as a joke" and living with his mother. Is this just a ploy to convince the courts to lower his $11,000 per month child support payments or did he really blow money fast?

According to TMZ

In the docs, Chris -- a 1st round NFL draft pick in 1999 who played in the league for 10 years -- states, "I have been unemployed since 2009. I have no income."

He adds, "I live in my parent's home. My parents provide me with my basic living expenses as I do not have the funds to do so."

McAlister was a KEY member of the Ravens when they won the Super Bowl in 2000 ... and even got himself an interception during the big game

McAlister was only married to Marlene for 13 months -- but she claims Chris ended the relationship in 2009 when she got pregnant and refused to get an abortion.

Explain to me, how exactly does someone blow $55M in 7 years when they've only been "unemployed" for 2 of them? For 5 of those 7 years you were still making money, so what the hell did this man do with nearly 60-mill? I know he's had a lot of legal trouble (that he's brought on himself) and his child support payments are no joke, but to be to the point where you live with your parents and they are supporting you financially? He needs to do better, he's not a Baller he's a Scrub! UPS is hiring so get to work!

definitely could be either or...he don't wanna come up off those child support payments, but that's trifling either way. Poor money management is a serious disease forreal

#1 I don't believe that he is really BROKE and that his parent support him.....b*******!

#2 He needs to be slapped full on in the face either way true or not

If it's true, he's an idiot that deserves to be broke....If it's not true, he need a karate kick to the neck for tryna avoid proper child support payments. (probably still mad she didn't get that abortion)

key phrase '...I have no income'.  Whomp there it is.  Maybe someone that is going through the courts to get or pay child support can confirm this: are the payments based on current income?  If so, then I can see what Chris is trying to do.

It's obvious he does not want to pay the ex 11k/mo.  He can have beaucoup bucks in the bank (or a safe deposit box) from past years income, use that $$$ to pay his bills, and still claim he has no income.  I don't know how the process works, so someone will have to educate me.

Let's not count out the fact that he his what he says he is...broke.  Here is a good read for you detailing how/why pro atheletes go broke.  Maybe this should be posted on BA as a must read for aspiring Baskeball and NFL wives.  for those of you that don't want to read the entire article,

here are a couple of nuggets:

• By the time they have been retired for two years, 78% of former NFL players
have gone bankrupt or are under financial stress because of joblessness or
divorce.

• Within five years of retirement, an estimated 60% of former NBA players are
broke

I agree with Blackfu. 11K a month for a kid?  please. I understand it's based on income, but that's about how much a teaching assistant makes in ONE YEAR.

11k/month is a lot of money but I believe the child should be living just as good as the parent with the bread.  If it wasn't based on income, we would probably see a lot more kids with holes in their sneakers while their parent is on a yacht...
