7 Other Things To Do Besides Look For Love – blogged by: @thewisegem

Whether you are young or old, single or romantically involved with someone, one thing’s for certain; we all have a tendency to waste a lot of time looking for the right person to fall in love with. Skip the weekly turn up at the clubs or binge watching seasons of your favorite shows on Netflix. Neither of which will be beneficial to you finding a love match. Instead of getting caught up in the hype of finding someone to share “happily ever after” here’s some things you can focus on to help the time pass while waiting for your soul mate to arrive.

Focus On Your Career

Whether this means that you go back to school, learn a trade, start a business or pursue professional development courses; go get it done. Not only will you advance yourself academically or professionally but, you will increase your earning potential. When you are focusing on your own goals you won’t have time to be worried about being lonely.

Volunteer

Sign up with a local charity, hospital, community organization or church. Giving back or working towards the greater good of mankind is a great way to utilize your time and you’ll feel good doing it.

Try New Things

I am a huge fan of Groupon. Download the app and search for some inexpensive new experiences. Try indoor skydiving, golfing, sign up for a class or go to a concert outside of your favorite music genre. Not only will this help you be a more well rounded person but, you never know who you will meet along the way. If you truly want to attract something different then you should probably stop doing the same things.

Exercise

Fit is in. There’s no better stress reliever than burning calories and sweating it out. You don’t even have to join a gym, go outside and walk around your favorite neighborhood. Go to a park, try yoga or Pilates or simply watch fitness tapes and workout in your living room. Toning your body will not only improve your health but, boost your confidence for when you’re out there ready to meet “the one”.

Travel

Pack up and go! You can take a drive and stay at a bed and breakfast or catch a flight to an exotic place. Traveling is always good for the soul. It always helps to make you feel refreshed and gives you a much needed break from the monotony of everyday life.

Become A Mentor

Join your local Junior Achievement Chapter, Boys and Girls Club or Big Brother/Big Sister Program. There are many youth who are struggling with real life trauma and could use support or a great role model. Stop being narcissistic, there are more important things going on the world besides your love life.

Get A Hobby

There is no rule against adults having hobbies. Maybe you danced or played an instrument as a child. Maybe, you were you an athlete? What’s stopping you from picking it back up in your free time now? Even if you aren’t able to enroll, then maybe you can teach a class. Either way, remember the fun things you enjoy doing and make it a point to do them.
