Wendell Pierce, best known for his role as ‘Bunk’ in the hit HBO series ‘The Wire’, is very serious when it comes to politics.
According to reports, Pierce was at the Loews hotel in Atlanta at 3:30am Sunday morning where he engaged in some small talk with a couple. At some point the topic of politics comes up. Pierce is a huge Hillary supporter, while the couple professed their love for Bernie Sanders.
TMZ reports that Pierce became enraged, pushing the boyfriend and smacking the woman while grabbing her hair. Pierce was arrested and taken into Fulton County Jail where he was charged with simple battery. He was released after posting $1,000 bail.
“The incident did not rise to anything significant, so no special notification was made,” police said in a statement. “It was treated like any other arrest a patrol officer conducts. Mr. Pierce made no indication he was famous nor did the officer inquire.”
