Ahmed Mohamed Withdraws From MacArthur High School

Ahmed Mohamed, the 14-year old who was arrested for bringing a home made clock to school, has officially withdrawn.

In his post-arrest press conference, Ahmed expressed that he’d probably withdraw from the high school that had him arrested. It appears that he made good on his promise. Ahmed’s father has pulled all of his children from the Irving independent school district in Dallas, TX. His family has not decided where they will continue their education. He tells the Dallas Morning News, “Ahmed said, ‘I don’t want to go to MacArthur.’ These kids aren’t going to be happy there.” I could see why he would feel that way. After all of the media attention, things have to be rather awkward at school. Facing the teacher that had you arrested can’t be much fun either.

Ahmed was not charged for the clock incident, but was suspended for three days. The Mohamed family plans to fly to New York on Wednesday so that the UN can meet with Ahmed. Ahmed’s father wants to take Ahmed on a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia if they are granted the proper visas. “I ask Allah to bless this time. After that, we’ll see,” he says.
