Auburn Football Player Jakell Mitchell Killed

A 22 year old man by the name of Markale Deandra Hart has been arrested in connection with the death of 18 year old Auburn football player, Jakell Mitchell. 

Jakell Mitchell was shot and killed at an apartment near the school’s campus on Sunday morning. It’s reported that this is the same apartment complex (University Heights) where where two former Auburn football players, Ed Christian and Ladarious Phillips, were fatally shot in 2012. 

Deandra Hart is being held on $150,000 bond. Auburn University issued a short statement via Twitter saying, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jakell’s family and friends. Auburn encourages those in need to contact the Division of Student Affairs.” Mitchell’s former high school coach also commented, saying “The sadness I feel right now is overwhelming. My hope is in Jesus. My prayers are that Mitchell family will find Peace in Him also.”
