Ballerific Charity: Jhene Aiko Teams Up With United Nations and Brooklyn Industries For ‘Girl Up’

Jhene Aiko and retailer Brooklyn Industries have teamed up with the United Nations’ Girl Up program, a campaign that supports the empowerment of girls through advocacy and fundraising. As the United Nations Foundation’s adolescent girl campaign, Girl Up engages girls to take action. Led by a community of nearly half a million passionate advocates raising awareness and funds, Girl Up’s efforts help ensure the hardest to reach girls can go to school, see a doctor, participate in their communities, and live free from violence in places where it is hardest to be a girl.

Jhene Aiko, Brooklyn Industries and Girl Up are releasing three t-shirts in hopes of bringing awareness to global equality. Each graphic tee will feature an image of a woman with a powerful message meant to encourage people to talk about seeing and hearing new things.  The shirts are called “Equali-tees” and the goal is to push the discussion of equality for girls around the world.

The three t-shirts, which can be purchased on Brooklyn Industries website,  feature women of various ethnicities, each with their eyes and mouths covered, representing the women who are not allowed voices or vision across the world. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these tees will be donated to the Girl Up program,
