The BET Hip Hop Awards brought the Who's Who of hip hop to the streets of Atlanta this weekend and if you weren't there you missed one hell of a time. Of course BA was on the scene with plenty of pics and a brief recap. You're Welcome!

 

Wednesday night the ASCAP Legends Ball kicked off the BET Hip Hop Awards Weekend. T.I. was awarded the "Living Legends" award. During his acceptance speech he talks about his road to success, pokes fun at Jermaine Dupri for not adding him on the Welcome To Atlanta track, and tells new artists that everyone can't do a song with a Mike Will beat and a Future hook. Other attendees included Jazze Pha, Pebbles, Jermaine Dupri, DaBrat, Dondria, Bangladesh, Devyne Stephens, & MORE. Check out the video above.

The highlight of the weekend (other than the violence backstage) were the birthday celebrations of Atlanta's very own Jeezy and T.I. This year Jeezy held an exclusive black tie event at Atlanta's Biltmore Hotel. Free drinks were flowing and everyone was suited and booted for the occasion. I actually arrived at the exact same time Jeezy stepped out of his Rolls Royce looking like a million bucks. He was also accompanied by a young lady I have yet to identify..

After the Black Tie event ended, Jeezy took his talents to Vanquish where the party continued. T.I., Usher, Meek Mill and more were in attendance as Kenny Burns kept it rocking on the mic.

The same evening Waka Flocka held a red tie affair at Ventanas to introduce his Brick Squad Monopoly roster. I was a bit shocked to see Waka Flocka was having such an upscale event but everyone looked well put together. If you do it for the ratchets but enjoy getting cleaned up every once and a while, this is definitely where you wanted to be.

The next day The Source Power 30 held an event at the Microsoft Store in Lenox Mall. The event was a great networking opportunity. Everyone who was anyone worth knowing stopped by. This is the same event that was cut short by the infamous Machine Gun Kelly incident. To sum up what happened, MGK was slated to perform inside the Microsoft Store. There was no stage set up, so the obvious choice would be to perform on the floor right? Wrong! MGK hopped on top of the tables (where half a dozen high end laptops were sitting) and turned into a raging wild boy. He stomped & jumped around while performing. It was a great show actually but Microsoft feared for their hardware and wanted him off the tables IMMEDIATELY! Unfortunately MGK was not getting down and shot the manager of the store the middle finger for thinking otherwise. Needless to say police escorted him out pronto! You can catch the video of that HERE. Subsequently I too was put out with MGK...and so was Deb Antney lol

The party continued into Friday night. There was a lot to celebrate at Jeezy's private dinner at STK. Jeezy was recently named the new Sr Vp of A&R at Def Jam, he's also sold 5 Million records worldwide and of course it's his birthday!

Last but not least, the moment you have all been waiting for, pics from the BET Hip Hop Awards red carpet. One of my favorite things about the carpet this year was the legendary hip hop stars that came through. It was such a nostalgic moment seeing some of the forefathers of the game and getting a chance to shake their hand and thank them for their contributions. An interview or two was the icing on the cake.
