Ballerific Relationships: Men or Women, Who Pumps The Gas?

While surfing the net yesterday I stumbled upon this pic of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on Necole Bitchie‘s website. Much to my surprise Kim K was pumping gas. The fact that she’s privileged and rich isn’t why I was surprised. There were a few things going on in the photo that I didn’t quite agree with.

Allow me to begin by saying that I am not stuck in the 60’s and I by no means believe that only men should pump gas. That’s a primitive way of thinking and for those that know me, I’m far from a primitive person.  I do see some things wrong with this scenario. The obvious being that this is Kanye’s car and Kim wasn’t driving. My thing is this – I will pump the gas all day long if it’s my vehicle and/or I am driving. That’s just courtesy. But I will be damned if I get out of the comfortable passenger seat to put gas in YOUR tank. If I were Kim, when Kanye stopped the car expecting me to hop out, we would have been some staring ass ninjas until he decided to pump his own gasoline. I mean, did Kanye buy the girl an Arizona Tea and a bag of Doritos from inside the store at least? Did he even get out of the car at all? Who paid for the gas? Is this the Lamborghini Kim bought him? He’s got that girl trained, honey! Now, an exception to this would be if Kanye attempted to get out the car and Kim said “Don’t worry, I got it!” but that would be too easy.

Is there some kind of standard to pumping gas when you’re with your man? Should the man always pump the gas or is it up to whoever gets out of the car first? If you pump, does he pay? What’s next — Women holding the door for men?
