Ballerific Sports: Carmelo Anthony Starts Venture Capital Firm

ESPN reports, New York Knicks player Carmelo Anthony agreed to a five-year, $124 million deal with the Knicks last week and is already looking to life after basketball.

On Monday July 21st, Anthony announced the creation of M7 Tech Partners, a venture capital firm whose only partners are Carmelo Anthony and Stuart Goldfarb (former CEO of Bertelsmann).

Anthony noted that he was particularly intrigued with wearable and connected devices. In a statement Anthony stated:

“For as long as I can remember, I’ve been interested in technology. We are actively looking for ventures with strong leadership that resonate with consumers.”

The two haven’t put a minimum or maximum on how much they will invest in the coming years, though the firm’s announcement was accompanied by news of its first investment  in Hullabalu, an interactive children story company.

It a great pleasure to hear about athletes looking into their lives post sports. I mean let’s face it the money can only last as far as you multiply it. Congrats Melo
