Ballerific Beauty Tips: Keep Your Skin Hydrated, Soft & Wrinkle Free This Winter
Congratulations to our Brown Sugar Hair Winner, Denise who sent in this tip for all of us who are dreading what the winter months do to our skin.
Winter Skin Care: Oil Cleansing Method
During the winter even oily skin (like my own) can dry out. Oil cleansing is a great way to keep your skin soft, hydrated, and wrinkle free! And my oily skin girls don't be afraid, this will NOT make your skin oily.
You'll need the following:
Castor Oil
Olive Oil (carrier oil)
I use 3 parts Castor Oil to 1 part Olive Oil mix (Oily skin like my own will use higher Castor Oil ratio, dry skin may use 1 part Castor Oil to 2-3 parts Carrier Oil)
Apply mixture to dry skin and massage into skin in a upward motion for 2-3 minutes. Then take a hot wet towel (be careful not to burn yourself), and lay on your face and allow your face to steam. This will remove the oils and draw out all the dirt and impurities. Repeat as need. After, use cool water to close your pores. You'll have soft and glowing skin!
I use this 1 a day in the winter, and it works GREAT! I have attached a link I found on Youtube with great instructions. Keep it BEAUTIFUL ladies!

hmmmm no hate, but im not so sure about this one. oil on the skin doesnt sound cleansing at all. Also, hot water loosens your skin. You should be washing your face with cool to cold (depending on what you can take) water.

@So Luscious I thought the same thing but the oil cleansing Method really does work. The science behind it is that water does not dissolve oil the two don't mix so usually we use a soap which then strips the oil from our skin. Castor oil dissovles the extra oil in our skin with out stripping it. I found that doing oil cleansing every day is too much for me but 3 times a week leaves my skin feeling and looking amazing.

Scientifically it all makes sense, but in my mind, oil on my skin is just a no go. Thankfully ive never had any skin issues, not even in my teens. For as long as i can remember ive always only used (pink-cause it smells pretty) dove on my face, and thats all. Nothing else. and my skin is good.
Ive actually gotten into heated debates with people who tell me i shouldnt use soap on my face. Then i have them guess my age. They always guess 23-25 and are shocked when i tell them my real age. i dont knock what works for others, but i know pink dove has always worked for me.

I'm loving the oil cleansing method on my skin right now. Started about a month ago and the 2 red spots I have from old period pimples are fading!
