CELEBRATING SHAKIR "SHAKE" STEWART'S LIFE

  • Rating: No Rating
This has hit me hard...

The details of Shakir Stewart's suicide keeps replaying in my mind over and over and over and over again...I'm still in shock! I was so happy for him when he received his new title of EVP of Def Jam records...I thought wow his career has taken off. Something that I always dreamed of...you see...in addition to my other hustles...music has always been my first love. I can't even imagine what Kee Kee (that was my name for him - one time I was so drunk and couldn't even pronounce his name and kept calling him Kee Kee) was feeling for him to do that. I'm sure we will never understand..I will cherish the fun times and pray that his soul is resting peacefully.

Here is a blog that Kenny Burns wrote about his dear friend...It touched my heart.

I Lost A Friend... Yesterday at 2:24pm
I remember getting a call from my cousin who was attending Morehouse College telling me about this yearly event called "Freaknic" and that I needed to come down to experience it.

Since I had gotten in some trouble and lost my basketball scholarship earlier that year, I thought this was the perfect chance for me to get out of DC and see another way of life.

I mean I had heard about the Black College Experience and saw the Spike Lee movies, but I wanted to see it for myself...

Upon my arrival I was greated by my two cousins (Leo & Damon) and this guy from Oakland Ca, Shakir Stewart.

From that moment our journey and friendship began...

I moved back down that fall and the rest is history!

Being young, you think that you want the money and the fame. You work hard, so you think the reward will be fullfilling. You put the time and energy into your work and these UN-LOYAL, FAKE ASS ARTIST/EXECUTIVES that could give a fuck about YOU! To have what in the end?? MONEY?? You think that shit makes you happy!?

WELL AFTER SEEING WHAT HAPPENED TO MY MAN (A Man's Man) CONFIRMS, WHAT A SOUL-LESS BUSINESS/WORLD THIS IS!

People would ALWAYS ask me, KB, why would leave Mariah Carey when you traveled the world in private planes and recorded in Capri Italy? You where VP of Roc-a-fella Records, mentored Kanye West and had a clothing line with Roc-a-wear, what are you thinking?

My answer was ALWAYS, when I felt like I could become something I wasn't, I had to bust a move!

When you comprise who you are, that is selling your Soul! You have at that moment, given up ALL control.

The Man I knew was a Man's Man and wouldn't have taken his own life!

LiVe LiFe and LoVe Hard!

Shake, You will be missed.

Oh my gosh Boss I am so sorry for both yourself and Kenny' s loss of a good friend. Shakir must have been feeling very very depressed to take his own life, I only wish that someone could have been there to change his mind.

God Bless his dear heart....R.I.P

Wow so sad and tragic@ Kenny made some great points and I pray for his family and friends. We often get caught up in the trivial aspect of life and become so self absorbed in our own mess that we don't always turn to our sisters, brothers, friends and lovers and check in with what is really going on. You never know the pain someone is suffering. Count your blessings reach out to a friend that you haven't talked to in a while you never know how much a small gesture can mean to someone in turmoil...

This tragedy has touched so many people. Shake inspired many people around the A and the world. He was one of the winners! And, he was cool with it... So, this is truly a tragic end... If nothing else it will show so many youngins, who aspire to the glitz and the fame, that it's not always what it's cracked up to be. My prayers are with Shake and his family.

losing someone close is never easy..the void might not ever be filled, but hang on to the memories, they last a lifetime...time will ease the pain of this loss..keeping all those in prayer whose lives were affected..

I glad that you are out of that situation. The sentence that I have highlighted, I have some disagreement with, because, although the man may end of marrying the longtime gf, sometimes he does not and marries someone completely different and new (no…

I see lying is a habit for you.... Why are you trying so hard to convince someone you don't know about something you didn't do? i.e. research the law regarding palimony and common law marriage in the state of Ohio. If you had you would have posted…

There's a new trend emerging as more men are asking for equal treatment in their relationships. Now women can purchase their men a "mangagement ring" to let the world know that he, too, is spoken for. I thought it was cheesy at first, but now I have…
