Ciara Booed In New Zealand, Event Organizers Respond

Ciara is off to a rough start on her tour. On Wednesday night (Feb 20), Ciara was met with nearly 1,500 irate fans when she hit the stage over 90 minutes late at Ilam Fields in Christchurch, New Zealand. Even worse, fans say she only performed for roughly 10 minutes.

“It’s just a lot of money for students and you expect someone to perform a good set,” a local university student, Emily, who didn’t want to give her last name, told Radio New Zealand News, about the $48 she paid to purchase her ticket.

Some concertgoers reportedly paid more than $100 for VIP tickets. “You don’t expect to pay money to see someone perform five songs,” Emily added. “It’s just about a tenth of what you’d expect.”

It’s being reported that some fans booed the “Body Party” singer and others even threw soda cans at the stage. “I saw a couple of cans being thrown onto the stage,” Philippa Moran, a concertgoer, said. “Pretty much the whole crowd was booing her, which was unfortunate.”

Fans have taken to social media to demand a refund.  Promoter and organizers have already come to Ciara’s defense saying that it wasn’t her fault she could only perform for 10 minutes, there was a curfew.
