Dallas Cowboys Dez Bryant & Demarco Murray Break Records

Both Demarco Murray and Dez Bryant set the Dallas Cowboys off to a great start during their game against the Washington Redskins. Before taking the win with 44 – 17, both players became Dallas Cowboys record setters.

Rushing a season 1,845 yards on 393 carries, Demarco Murray started it off by setting the record for most rushing yards in a season with a 32-yard gain in the first quarter, breaking the record Emmitt Smith set in 1995 with 1,773 yards. His 32-yards this game  was his longest since a 40-yard carry last earlier this month against the Chicago Bears. “I am proud of him because I know how hard it is to do what he did this year. I am also proud because I’ve watched him bounce back from some injury setbacks in his first few years. He’s worked through all that, and he deserves to have this record,” Emmitt Smith said of Demarco nabbing his record.

Demarco set the tone for Dez Bryant who had a little record breaking of his own to do. On the following play, Dez caught a 23-yard touchdown pass, his 16th for the season, one more than T.O. in 2007.

Congratulations to Dez & Demarco.  Another player from the Lonestar State, JJ Watt of the Houston Texans broke a record today too. J.J. Watt became the first player in NFL history to have multiple seasons with 20+ sacks. Congrats to JJ!
